No-Kill mails...

Just a random thought but it could be fun to have No-Kill mails for when a group attack an unarmed ship and it escapes...only details are the pilot who escaped, the pilots who attacked and the aggregated value of the ships that failed to kill the target. Only criteria is that the target ship was unarmed in any way.

Could be a fun counter to KM's for indy pilots...

Edit: The failmail should also include the value of attacker ships CONCORD'd since you caused them a loss by evading the attack. Currenntly Roamers get to bandy around shiny KM's but there is no context on it based on the number of failed attempts. The value of the attackers ships will never match the attempted victim I'm guessing, but the number of failmails compared to the number of KM's could prove quite interesting...

And that would be a helpful feature in which way?

My Condor costs less than that module!

indi corps can see that a member has enough brain and/or luck to escape

Two reasons:

1) Gives the indy pilot something their skill can be measured by.

2) Pure comedy gold in wind-up value when a gank squad completely fail...Big smile

So, flying a warpcorestabbed ship is skill? Being shot at by a bad suicideganker that fails is skill?
Got some bad news for you pal.

My Condor costs less than that module!

I have to vote nope.gif on this one - if every single attempeted kill resulted in a mail, the amount of mail that would end up going out to those taking part in medium to large scale conflicts would be a endless torrent of spam.

Sheesh, I am only a lowly Factional Warfare player and that would take my mails from a few a day at best to up to dozens. Sorting through that amount of spam would be a bunch of no fun, and I hate to think of the strain on the server having to process tens of thousands of mails that basically say "someone shot at someone and nothing happened" a day.

Also, re: defending against a suicide gank when the target is killed by concord - you can get on that killmail easy - just activate one hostile module or done on the ganker. Does not have to be anything fancy, the drone does not even have to hit - just assign it to the target and *boom* - you are on the killmail. At least that way you *did something* versus "I fit a tank and a warp stab, I deserve half a kill mail but sorta a no kill mail lol" kind of thing.

Just my two cents on this.

I didn't realize about activating some module to be honest, but the mails would be limited to only unarmed ships, no guns, no drones, a pure attacker against totally unarmed defender. If it is so easy to run without being killed in the manner described why are so many scared of running into low-sec?

I'm just defending my point here and this was only half serious...but there is no method for an indy/explorer character to display there abilities and since not being killed when caught is the only measure I can think of with regards to actually flying I just threw the idea out there whilst bored in work...

Fair point on unnecessary generation of mail though...I suppose a more serious point is how does an indy/explo char prove their ability to a corp they wish to join?Combat types simply wave KM's about to prove the point but proving you can scan an retrieve stuff or safely move high value items is a little trickier..

He did mention the one caveat that would make this impossible: The ship being attacked must have no weapons. I would go even further to say that the ship must not have aggressed in any way, meaning no drones and no e-war. I only say this because if you're going to argue with the man, at least read what he said.

But otherwise I agree, it's completely useless. If you're going to reward people for surviving a gank attempt, have Concord send a notification of congratulation and a box of unsellable donuts to the failed suicide gankers. It should be the same type of slap in the face as you get when the insurance company gives you your complementary Tritanium in the cargo hold of a rookie ship after you dock in a capsule.

Those are not abilities. Your criteria is:

- be in a situation where you are in danger with 0 offensive capability
- don't die

Nothing to do with being "caught". Nothing to do with proper fitting, situational awareness, avoiding dangerous areas, flying what you can afford to lose, hauling intelligently, or repelling hostiles. There's nothing in there that necessitates any sort of skill.

Furthermore, there is no waiting list for indy corps. No competition, no sweet jobs to apply for. And that won't change, because indy corps need members, not good members.

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

So, I came in expecting to be angry about not receiving kill mails. Now I'm just hoping that I don't get spam everytime someone takes a shot at me.
