"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The summary of the previous week 6/2014 can be found here. Available is also the overview 2014

The current "This week in EVE" gives on overview of the week from February 8th to 13th

Dev blogs and official information
  • EVE Source now open for pre-orders - Forum discussion
  • At Fanfest 2013, we announced the production of EVE Source, a complete book which contains all the information lore hungry people need about the backstory of EVE Online. We're happy to announce that this book is complete and coming to stores near you very soon! Check out the EVE Store!

  • Alliance Logos & You - Clarification On Submissions - Forum discussion
  • After a long discussion with our legal department, a dev blog has been put together to explain the situation with alliance logo copyright ownership, and to make sure that the process surrounding it is perfectly clear. We've also drafted a license to allow free usage of alliance logos, that can be used as backup should you run into any issues with third party sites removing your goods from sale. Read all about this in CCP Falcon's latest dev blog!

  • Community Spotlight: Zao Amadeus
  • The weekly Community Spotlights presents you interesting initiatives from the EVE community for the EVE community. Read CCP Eterne's latest Community Spotlight about Zao Amadeus, a brave streamer of EVE Online that pitches himself into danger every day, risking stream snipers and other ne'er-do-wells, to bring people stuck at work or otherwise without access to EVE the ability to keep watching EVE. Thank you, Zao Amadeus!

Devposts on the forum and news
[list]
  • New Pilot FAQ available
  • CCP has published a New Pilot FAQ to answer common questions of players new to EVE and to give a good high level overview of EVE Online. The FAQ consists mainly of two parts explaining what EVE is about and explaining what you can do in EVE.

A German version is available here / Eine Version auf Deutsch ist verfügbar hier: EVE Online Einsteiger-Kompendium
A Japanese version is available here / 日本語版はこちら: EVE Japanese Player Guide
A Russian version by CCP is in production. (A version by the great Russian EVE player community is available here.)

  • CREST Killmails Endpoint
  • CCP FoxFour comes with great news! When viewing a killmail you now have a new option called Copy External Kill Link (Screenshot by Peter Powers). When you click on that link you receive a hash of the killmail.

The idea behind this endpoint is that it takes a killmail ID and a hash of the killmail and if the hash is right for that killmail ID we return a response with the contents of the killmail. No API keys required any more to get the contents of kill mails!

Third party and killboard devs such as Peter Powers and Squizz Caphinator rejoice as CCP FoxFour continues improving this service.

  • Warping through planets?
  • CCP Paradox recommends reading the interesting EVElopedia article about interstellar travelling.

  • Snowboarding/skiing at Fanfest 2014 (Tuesday)
  • CCP karkur is going to do some snowboarding in her private time before Fanfest 2014 and she is curious if anyone would like to join her in this private adventure - please note that this is not an official CCP event. Sounds awesome! Pics or it didn't happen? Sure, check the impressions from CCP karkur's 2013 snowboarding trip!

  • Upcoming drone assist changes in Rubicon 1.x
  • With a future Rubicon 1.x deployment, the drone assist mechanic is supposed to change so that at maximum 50 drones can be assigned to a single person. This number includes also drones guarding someone as CCP Nullarbor explains.

  • Play EVE - win a Olympic medal!
  • At least this is how it worked for Kjetil Jansrud during the previous winter Olympics according to Massively (more here). Will we see another EVE player winning an Olympic medal this time?

Again your weekly summaries are appreciated.

    Thank you.

CCP's sand box is EVE Online.  The sand is owned by CCP.  We pay them a monthly fee to throw the sand at each other.  That is all that is here, so move along. Nothing more to be seen.

    Thank you Phantom.

You are the Hero of the Week, well actually, you are the Hero of Every Week ;)

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.
