There's a reason "snoozing" rhymes with "losing"

I recieved a Presale Confirmation mail with a cerificate for my pre-purchase to open in Acrobat Reader

the code that should be on the anodized aluminium plaque is not showing tho, so i can not activate a redeem

is this an error in the PDF or at my end with Acrobat Reader? Ugh

Thank you for purchasing!

You need to wait for the actual physical plaque, the code is engraved on it...

Yeah... announcing a memorial gets a countdown timer, something incredibly limited like this gets sprung at 15:30 GMT without any warning?

I have to say there's something insidious to the price point (which some people have been pausing at) combined with the exclusivity creating urgency to 'buy now, before they're all gone'. This feels like CCP has been learning the wrong lessons from in-game scammers... bad CCP!

So-- it's a bad habit? But when I wake up each morning, I check the news, glance at a couple of comics (SMBC, XKCD, etc), do a quick check to see if I've received any email or evemail, and check http://www.eve-search.com/search/dpf/dev to see if anything interesting popped up, seeing as when I wake up CCP's been at work for most of their day. Most often, it's the community guys at work, but sometimes this means I'm aware of news before my mostly-US TZ alliance is.

I saw the release, hemmed and hawed for a couple minutes, and took the plunge at 1544 UTC, or 7:44 am local time -- a little bit under an hour after the news went out. Needless to say, I got a signed copy.

Not intended as gloating? But basically: they usually do their releases late in the day UTC, which means that most US players will be awake, if not necessarily active online. If you want to be on top of CCP news and releases, it's beneficial to have a habit of checking them during their business day-- because it's not like they're doing the release at 0900 UTC, when AU TZ is the only one active.

Gives me the faintest impression there's some pent-up demand for EVE swag. Probably just imagining it, tho.

The announcement was made at 9AM CST (my Time Zone). Which would have meant 7AM Pacific, 10AM Eastern. I had more than enough time to purchase my copy.

Should have hopped on that train as it left a long time ago.

No, some of us work that don't have access to a computer in order to buy books about internet spaceships. And it's just not about this. All their announcements are on their time which never favor the US. All the announcements about expansions for example, by the time the US folks get home to play, all the advantages are gone

The problem is that most people work during those hours.

When people say announcements favoring Americans, they mean in the evening after everyone gets home from work and actually has time for stuff.

Exactly this. Product went up after I left for work, what's worse, the announcement hit my mailbox around noon.
Product was sold out before I got home. I don't have access to a computer at work, and even if I did, there's no way in hell I'd use it for purchases; too risky.

I really would have expected them to make enough for it to get at least 12-24 hours before selling out. I know it's limited edition and supposed to be hard to get, but for Americans working during those hours and people in the pacific who are asleep, only having 8 hours of inventory is kinda **** move

Welcome to time zones. It's a company in Europe, deal with it. I have had to deal with US companies doing the same for years.
