I am going to give CCP until the end of the month to make some progress on this issue. After that point, I am going to request a full refund on the remaining, plus february, game time on all 3 of my characters. That is about 2 years of paid game time.

I'd like to continue playing the game, but don't want to have money sitting idle in game time through EVE, when it is not working, that I could spend elsewhere. If this happens and I do receive my money back, I will continue monitoring the progress of this problem. If and when the problem is rectified, I will then rejoin the game. I don't enjoy giving CCP an ultimatum, but I also do not want my money sitting in a game that I cannot play when it can be better spent.

I'd like to add my voice to this. I've also turned everything down to low settings. Rebooted my machine. Made it the only application running.

Still I have to 'force quit' and restart every 10 to 20 minutes. Something is definitely not right. I'd be happy to run a debug build to help if that helps.

CCP - please, please do something about this. I've lost two ships because of this bug already and it's starting to p**s me off.

Just when I have time to kill, log on Eve and freeze! Hey CCP hope you did not think you resolved this glitch. I'm just glad I did not lose any ships so far. Be nice to have a better fix to stabilize game play.

No change. Since technically I'm below spec I'm buying a new computer - if that doesn't help I guess I'll have to quit EVE (and warn other Mac users against joining).

Worst case, CCP may just say to us that Anything of 330M or below is no longer supported anymore since it's the 330m, 320m and 9400m receiving problems. Shame really I hope it doesn't go that far since I paid for a sub only just recently and I'd really hate to stop playing EVE after playing for almost 2 years with no problems.

Lets just really hope CCP finds a fix to this first. Or tell them to reverse everything to before the 1.1 Rubicon patch.

I'll second that. This iteration of Rubicon is a FAIL for anyone playing on Mac. I'm sick to death of the frustration already.

So not true. I use a 330M and have zero issues. For me this has been the most stable, best performing Mac build Ive seen in 6 years of play.

I assume you all have tried deleting the eve file in application support? I find that if there is an issue affecting one account but not others, then deleting that file can clear it. (The file gets re-created by the client the first time you run it. This also meas ALL your settings are gone.) Also that file is not fixed by either the repair tool or even by downloading a new client. So if its bugged, your only option is to toss it and let the client build a new one.

That did not work for me...... Saw the Eve movie again and then had to restart my Mac when I could not get out of Eve and the black screen of death

It seems a little obvious that its an issues with some communication between EVE graphics and NVIDIA (at least on my computer) since the only graphics change was in the Feb. 4th patch and all was operating normally before that fateful patch. Why is it so hard to issue a deprecated patch? Why is my support ticket not being answered since Feb. 4th? I've been playing this game since 2007 and I don't recall a time when I have this much lag in a critical game-play bug. Trying my best not to turn this thread into an unhelpful gripe fest, but I think I'm loosing that battle.

Just signed back onto eve after a 3.5 yr hiatus and I am also experiencing the black screen issue. Furthest I've been able to get into the game is to the character design.

Please CCP, buy a few used macs for testing, they're not that expensive. 2 or 3 of each (mini, mbp and imac) with different osx (from 10.6.8 to newest) and nvidia graphics (there's the problem, i guess), starting with 2008, 2009 or 2010. Maybe this could help understanding the issue.
Also, there must be some sort of compensation for macusers who lost SP or ships. I lost a few hundred millions because of not playing, not a great deal, but not funny either.

I'd just like to direct everyone's attention to this thread on running the windows version of EVE through Wine rather than relying on the official (Cider-based) Mac client. It's pretty easy to set up even if you've never used wine before, and it sounds like performance is significantly better than with the official client. I'm currently updating Wine to the latest release and will then try and see if I can avoid this black screen/freezing issue in this way, I will report back when I know.

I am experiencing the exact same black screen issue. I'm running Mac OS X 10.8.5 on an iMac 21.5-inch late 2009 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo w/ 4 GB 1067 MHz RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB graphics card. Here is the log

...

I would very much like to know if my computer becomes officially unsupported by CCP as soon as possible. I really do not want to buy a new computer but I will if y'all officially give up on solving this problem and that's what it takes. Is there any other way I can update my training queue other than installing EVE on a computer that works?

The GeForce 9400m is technically below our minspec (see http://www.eveonline.com/faq/client-system-requirements/) so it might be time to get a new computer.

We haven't given up on this yet, but so far we've been unable to repro this issue and we no longer have working Macs that fit your specs. The only changes to low level graphics code in Rubicon 1.1 have been to address crashes (or work around driver crashes) so we can't simply revert those - we have to find solutions that work on all the different configs out there.

The windows client (bootcamp) don't have problem, I've noticed a strange thing, wuen the client freeze and the entire system crash after re-booth the launcher loose all setting and login character disappear.

i didn't change the hardware, you didn't change the code.

the same code on same hardware produces the same crash.

you seems clueless to me, how about i give you my mbp for testing, and you give me one that can run eve?

i'd like a monument for this technical issue as well.

i've got about 4 hours to play, but game does not work.

it's really hard for me to avoid using those 4 hours to post in every thread on this forum, just to make sure you notice there's an issue.

but i'll try.

Great to hear, Snorlax. I just now got a follow-up notifying my that the issue was fixed with the Feb 12th patch. Uh, no it wasn't. Guess I'll be filing another bug report.

Wow, get this…

I have Parallels on my MAC Pro. Parallels is like bootcamp in that you can run Windows from a Mac. I have Windows XP installed in Parallel. I just downloaded EVE for Windows and it works perfectly under Parallels. This is with the NVIDIA Geforce GT 120 video card. On the MAC side, I cannot run Eve because of ongoing issues described in this thread.

Sad day, because today I wasn´t able to start EVE one single time. I was able to blindclick the character on the black screen, but after some more minutes of black screen the program crashed.

Wow, I was just about to post a response that the latest patch fixed something, and then my character got perma-frozen in space.

Today I was able to make a new character (finally made it through Character Creation without freezing at the final step). I flew around for a good 3 hours on two different characters.

As soon as I flew to one specific system, I froze, and continue freezing every time I log in. It seems like it might be due to some graphic such as a star in that system. I also froze once earlier due to mousing over an asteroid belt dropdown.

Fingers crossed... now my character can't skill or market =/

I have Fusion 7 installed on a partition on my computer and windows 7 loaded there. I might download the windows version of EVE like some other have done so and give it a spin there and report back here. Does anyone know if the profile settings in the Mac directory are compatible with the Windows version? That is can I copy my profile files from my Mac port and paste them into my Windows port of Eve?

soooo no fix, huh? over 2 days and still can't access the game. can't access it from the desktop launch icon, can't access it by bypassing the normal launch via the 'show package contents' > 'contents' > 'resources' route using the old launcher. in the first instance my launcher freezes requiring a force quit, in the 2nd i'm instructed i require a 17.5 meg download but the is corrupted. it's not the mac, that's a 2013. it's that last patch. it simply broke access.

i appreciate the complexity of your creation but 2+ days (more in some cases) is a long time for a fix.
