Out of game right now but saw this in the patch notes:

Quote:
Sleepers

Sleeper craft have received much needed sensor upgrades and can now detect and process threats across great distances. They’re watching you. Always.
Sleeper reinforcement protocols have been improved to reduce unsightly clustering.

Anyone know in practical terms what this means?

.....maybe escalation will spawn before capitals land on grid?

We've long exploited a bug in Sleeper AI that allowed us to keep gas harvesting when Sleeper battleships had spawned in certain sites if we were positioned correctly on the opposite side of the gas from the Sleeper spawn. Betting it has something to do with that, but we're trying to figure it out for sure right now!

A part of me hopes that this actually means there will be pseudo-random spawns on top of you while running sites. That would make things much more interesting.

I wonder if this will make jamming site triggers harder. Probably will depend on how much the sensors were "upgraded"

My guess would be greater spacing, reducing sleeper BS getting alpha'd when they keep bumping with a 0 velocity.

Yea, I'm pretty sure this has to do with the fact that sleepers won't aggro sometimes depending on your range from them. Pretty annoying since I hate having to kill/jam the stupid triggers.

Hopefully it's not this though, I haven't tested it.

Edit: I didn't really read the "cluttering" part, my god if that means that the cap escalation waves will no longer spawn at 0 when you warp to your bookmark, I'm literally going to ragequit.

Stop being bad?

I consider it a blessing from Bob when my Revelation can use Multi and the sleeper is inside optimal, instead of the edge of falloff.

Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It is beautiful. http://thegreattichim.wordpress.com/

Can we get a Dev to throw us a bone here? The information in the patch notes is about as non-specific as it gets.

It's pretty much exactly what it sounds like.
In practical terms, Sleepers in many sites will now select and attack targets within a much larger area, and escalations will be (ever so slightly) more spread out.

Won't be anything groundshaking for most of you. The big change will be for those players who were taking advantage of certain specific aggression bugs.

WH-dev, best-dev.
He does seem to be the only dev responding to WH-related content, doesn't he?

Nice seeing you earlier Bane, btw.

You need someone else to check for you and you'll ragequit if they changed anything about the escalation spawns?? Rather than figure out yourself what has changed and then adapt to it accordingly?

See I need this because none of my characters are in a wormhole in a cap. So it's impossible for me to test unless I want to scan a WH, go inside, and test it, then come back out, which I can do, but I don't care to because I'm quite busy enough with other things.

Haha.

*tries to look innocent*

*fails*

Twas prolly needed though. It was kinda silly that you could solo both top-end gas sites with a single poorly skilled subcap. Even sillier: anyone warping to attack you would land near the sleepers and promptly get slammed, so you were essentially being guarded by the npcs ............ you could more or less afk as a result.

At one point I had 5 accounts nomadding from c5 to c5 - given how empty most of them are, you can hoover gas basically all day with minimal risk. One hole had 3 instrumentals, 2 cores, total over 2bn worth. Not really justifiable given you're only risking crappy little ventures - and even then they can often escape given their builtin stabs and speed with pre-heated mwd, like when I got bubbled after stealing all the gas in blood union's static :p
