Disconeccted during mission ship goes boom instead of warping away.

As the title says I was disconnected during a L4 mission and my ship decided to stay in place instead of warping away. I logged back in only to watch my capsule eject and my ship go POP.

This took place last Saturday (Australia). My biggest issue with this "disconnection" was my computer still had a stable internet connection, as I could still access the internet threw a browser plus I was never disconnected from Ventrilo.

I posted a ticket in the faint hopes of getting my ship back but I haven't received a response from CCP or a GM. I would like my ship replaced because I feel the game mechanics have failed me.

Things like this happens, and im sorry to say that chances are very slim that you will get reimbursed, and posting here wont change the outcome of your petition.

Best thing you can do is accept it as a loss, recover from it, and then if they decide to reimburse it.. well suddenly you have a backup in case something similar happens again Smile

Are you sure there were no warp scrambling frigates in the mission?

I didn't think posting here would change the outcome, I actually thought I might get a response from CCP/GM.

I also didn't think my chances of reimbursement were very high. Yet you never know unless you ask. I have already "bit the bullet" and brought another ship.

Yes I'm positive there was no warp scrambling happening.

Dodged the question, perhaps a rat scrambled you between the disconnect and e-warp initiation?

Remember too that once you disappear from local, your skills are no longer being applied to the ship, which is still in space (working as intended with CCPs recent crimewatch (and 'safely log off button') changes.

So, if there's enough damage, well...

Good luck on the reimbursement, though.

I use cap unstable and often cap boosted ships with pulsed reppers from Australia. A sentry droneboat will self retract its drones and warp out safely, reliably unless warp disrupted by NPCs or colliding with scenery during the e-warp align, bumped by other players or scrambled by other players.

In 2008, it was a bad idea to mission that way, in 2014 it is fine as long as the last mile is good (the bit to your house).

Your Ventrillo server is probably located in the US, EVE servers are located in the UK, CCP doesn't own all the links where traffic diverges towards your ventrillo server, nor all the links where it diverges towards the EVE servers. Packet loss and disconnection can occur beyond their control, and packet loss even on the same link can affect one service and not another (if for no other reason than ISPs shaping stuff).

Occasionally its possible for the eve client and server to be out of sync, the most notable one for me recently was the repper auto repeating and emptying my cap when the client thought it was off, that is probably a packet loss situation (because the client kept the repper button glowing red). I realised what was happening before the hardeners got turned off and warped out.

I can't support reimbursements for disconnection events (because we'd all kick the cable when losing). I have actually shot a logged off or disconnected australian with a timer, simply because I didn't want them back in my system, and would not be concerned about it happening to me.

Look for your claims, but do not trust your hope. It has forsaken disconnects.

Guideline 1.4 of the reimbursement policy probably rules you out of getting your ship back:

If there was no server problem (that would have affected many people), then no soup for you unfortunately.

Yeah I have had 50/50 results with this issue.. couple of times the GM's were like fair enough here is a replacement.. Others they were a combination of 'our logs sjow nothing' to 'We are sorry for your loss'

It's a Australia thing... >_>

and with the Abott Gov in power no NBN for me

I have been disconnected before but my ship has always warped to a safe location and when I have logged back in my ship will return to its last location however in this instance for some reason my ship didn't warp.

If I had of disconnected just as my ship was about to blow up then this would be my fault but I still had 80-90% cap and hadn't even taken enough damage to turn on my armor repairer.

For some reason the server hasn't responded in the usual manner to a DC. I understand that in PVP or other situations there would be no reimbursement. But the "system/servers" have failed in this instance which seems to me to be a bug and as stated in there reimbursement guide lines is one reason for reimbursement. If its not then CCP/GM should be able tell me what happened.

I do still understand my chances are not high for reimbursement and this incident will not stop me from playing the game.

Its normally a case of the game client crashed, so you actualyl havent DC'd and it takes a moment for the game to realise you are not actually there.. and then it also depends on where it decides to randomly warp you, with align times and your moduals off you can die to rats pretty quickly

So send in a petition and go Grr Tony Abott (because if he was a EvE player he would be a Goon)

I had a period where 8 pm to about 1 am was impossible to stay connected, now, its just randow flaky on my AU connection. I eventually got a Rattlesnake and over tank it for missions. Bit sad really.

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

I'm 99% sure it wasn't my client that crashed. When I did get back into EVE my ship was facing the same direction just sitting motionless not even attempting to warp hence rats got to chew on me and yeah they did get my ship down pretty quick considering but there were a few of them.

I'm 100% sure Abott is a goon. Considering he wont even support industry I don't think he will help me.

your ship will not warp out if a rat point you, indeed that is the very purpose of a point!

and good luck with your petition, i never had a single ship reimbursed from CCP, even when it was obviously a bug, providing logs and even a video.... "logs show nothing" and "ny player submited pic / video is forged" are their favorite answer

Your ship was feeling depressed and suicidal from repeated mistreatment (Using it to run Level 4 missions) that it finally decided it had enough, and stayed in the mission to put itself out of it's misery and suffering.
Don't worry, it's in a better place now.

If it was only a brief disconnection, its possible that your browser and voice chat experienced it too without you noticing.

This sounds trollish.

Lost a very expensive Raven Navy Issue to a disconnect.

Bought another one and used it to recover the wreck.

I fully expect it to happen again someday. Just one of the many risks you must accept when un-docking.

After subjecting that poor ship to the tedium of missioning, it just wanted to be put out of its misery. Your disconnect just gave it the opening it needed.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?
