Coming back after years, whats up with solo pvp?

I know that this time around, I need to get into solo pvp if I wanted to sustain my interest in playing.

On that note, I'm looking at the changes since I last played, and I'm trying to figure out what ships are viable in solo right now.
I'd like to keep it on a budget while I'm getting back into the game. I can fly all t2 caldari/amarr/minnie, and am trained for all t2 guns up to medium / missiles are almost perfect. I'm looking at the Hurricane, Munnin, Harbinger, Loki, Zealot, Tornado right now, but I have no idea what to focus on.

What do you guys think?

I just checked out the new Destroyers, not only do they look awesome but they seem fairly good, are the worth the time?

Cruisers and down are the go to ship nowadays for pvp. solo or otherwise unless you are wanting to become a null f1 monkey.

The BC of yesteryear are long gone. Check out the cruisers now and get out there. Twisted

That is the Way, the Tao.

Balance is everything.

So now instead of everyone having a falcon alt. its dont engage without your off grid booster... Other then that nothing has changed.

Interceptors all up the place dawg :D

No seriously prepare to see many sig tanking 5km+ ceptors in low sec. if in null they'll generally be slightly slower due to lack of implants but instead of 1 or two in a gang there will be 30.

That said solo is alive and kicking :) Same old, same old with blobs, ganking and tarps but soloers know that and live on anyway.

So based on my experience, here is what I can add to the discussion;

Solo PvP is much more viable in LowSec then what it is in NullSec because of 3 reasons;

1. Right the now the meta in Sov & NPC null sec is hot drops. Prepare to get dropped a lot, and I mean a lot! If you don't mind getting ganked often... well go for it!

2. As soon as you enter a Sov Null region and even many times NPC NullSec region, intel has already spread around to the locals before you even get a peek to see what is around. You are much more likely to get ambushed as your targets have plenty of time to prepare in advance!

3. Bubbles, Sabres, Falcon Alts... do I need to say more?

The most effective way to catch out some nice targets in Null IMO is via the use of Wormholes, it's much easier to catch your targets with their pants down.

Now in regards to LowSec, you find mostly Cruisers and Frigates. Personally I prefer Frigates in the meta, however everyone has their own tastes and preferences. Just watch out for those who have booster alts in system (they are a pain in the ass!).

TLDR: I will fly Frigs in LowSec, but when venturing out to Null Solo I'll most likey utilise a Cruiser or a larger hull depending on the mood :)

hope this helps.

P.S - The craze right now is Inties.... if you want to solo, I'd advise you steer clear of flying these. Low dps, low engagement profile and less utility then what other Frigates can offer. Also, very easy to take advantage of the fact many are getting around these days.

Destroyers are very good. Just make sure you know your limits and you can easily 1v2, 1v3, or even 1v4 if you play your cards right.

2 fun little videos that show some of the ships you were looking at.

Solo is viable, but can be rough. Stick it though the hard times, and the epic fights will come. I don't like lowsec, i find it hard as hell to get a good fight there. But that is just me.

lol solo pvp

sure man, come find me and we'll have a nice solo fight. I promise I don't have friends off grid or other people sitting a jump away, and i'm not bait fit.

If you want good solo PVP, find a corp that is really into it and get to know the people - otherwise you will find out quickly that there are few "solo" fights in eve, and there's no such thing as a "fair" fight.

Nah, 1v1s are easy to find, because there still are many people that enjoy flying solo.

But... if you fly something (kitey, tanky, whatever) capable of handling multiple opponents, you'll enjoy MORE fights!

Confirming dessies are fun: underestimated in the meta, well capable of engaging a mini-gang (3-4) of frigs (common in the meta).

Finally, when solo prepare to explode often: fly bravely, die gloriously.

Make space glamorous! Is EVE dying or not? Ask the EVE-O Death-o-meter!

If you have some ISKies and can afford to fly cruiser hulls nothing really beats the holy kiting trinity.

Navy Omen <--- Insane ship, relatively cheap for what it does. (requires very good skillz for perfect fitting)

Vagabond <--- Does pretty much what it used to do exept for its lowered sig radius when MWDing which is great vs missiles and BSs

Cynabal <--- If you have solo pvp experience and have good ISK support then this is the obvious choice. With republic fleet warp disruptor it becomes 10/10.

With these 3 ships you can engage multiple ships at the same time meaning you will get more targets willing to fight you. They are flexible, hard to catch, deal decent dps, pretty much the perfect soloboat. I wouldnt suggest brawling solo ships unless you like not being in control of the fight. Its just too easy to get killed by a falcon/curse or something similar warping in if your in a brawling ship IMO.

Fittings that I used to great effect:

[Omen Navy Issue, Purrfect Nomen] <----- Needs 2% CPU implant with all lvl 5 skills. I also suggest zor-hyperlink.
