Tracking speed VS Signature radius hitting chance formula?

Hello,
After some researches on the net I give up and I decided to post here my question hoping to get an answer.

Is there a formula which, based on skills and tracking speed of drones can give me a % of target hitting chance according to it's speed and size?

I just want to see if fitting a omnidirectional tracking link worth or not.

thank you

Yes, there is such a formula. It ain't pretty.

As for an omnidirectional being worth it, fit it if you need the range on sentry drones.

Well, actually I don't need more range, in fact I use tracking script instead.
I am trying to understand how useful is the module as I have to choose between more drones efficiency or tanking.
I would need the formula to see what I can gain in efficiency and if it is enough compared to what I loose in tanking.

but thank you for your answer

As Batelle mentioned the math is ugly. However if we are talking about sentry drones the DPS graphing tool in EFT is rather useful for this if you know the approximate signature radius, orbit distance, and orbit velocity of your target. I don't know of any way to do this for other combat drones though.

agreed, don't try to model dps of combat drones on npcs, the answer you get likely won't mean anything.

If you're using sentry drones at under 30km range and engaging frigates and elite cruisers, its possible that even with gardes you will want all the tracking you can get.

Its pretty simple math actually:

It is in fact so simple you can just think "if my gun resolution is 200 and their sig is 20, i need 10x the tracking to hit" Which just means getting a zero to go away from your radians per second. Ie: (using the case above) if they are orbitting you at 0.001 r/sec you need 0.01 r/sec.

This removes the need for a calculator and you can just approximate on the fly.
