Should CCP take a look on defender missels?

Defender missiles are great except when u die because then they didn't help enough and they should be able to stop artillery and lasers and railguns (but not blasters ofc) but I still like them a lot except when you die

Defender missiles suck for sure, they seem useless and are useless, if you made they so when they blow up they are like little smart bombs and take out groups of missiles maybe then you could make a missi.e shield, but ya they need to go

^This. Defenders suck because missiles suck, thus, anything defending against something that sucks, suck by extension. Let defenders defend against guns. +1

Defender missiles are too weak, that I agree with. Of course the problem, addressed before is that they only defend against missiles. Any improvement to them would just render missiles in general less useful. Mind you, in comparison, that is using a highslot to stop missiles as apposed to a midslot for gunnery ewar. What would be needed is some sort of flak ammo. Currently defenders activated fire only when there is an incoming missile.

For support ships, the only ones that would use these, if the module could be standby when the charge is loaded, an anti round charge would be interesting. If something fires, yours nullifies. Hardest part is that a round is not an object, so an interrupt on it would be tough.

The other option is if the flak rounds made you more difficult to track or something.

Allow Defenders to shoot at any missile targeted at any fleet member.
So fleet members with defenders loaded can use them effectively even if they don't have aggro.

I think defenders "suck" by design to not be so useful as to totally mitigate all missile damage.

Wether they should be improved to a more sensible balance for purpose I'm unsure, at the moment however they don't seem to be the "automatic" defence aid you'd like them to be even if they are a semi-effectual umbrella. They are cumbersome and destract you from what you are trying to do normally.

(also from other threads)

Similary given the divergence of racial ship tech, some ships have more of a bias towards the use of missile launchers. I'd prefer to see defender missiles and other racial tech, laser systems, flak, plasma balls or whatever as possible specific defence tech that could be utilised from any high slot including utility slots.

If the above is applied and other suggestions of missile defence systems having a fleet role then ships can be reconfigured to have a specific role to combat missile threats. Maybe introduce an extra mod here as a command link to allow the ability?

I don't mean to pull ideas directly from other sources, but in this case I must;

I think it would be cool if their were high-slot weapons like in the new star-trek film, a fast firing laser battery that was a countermeasure to incoming non-missile damage. Might be interesting to have dedicated protection ships in fleets, and would make missiles as a whole more interesting because you might need to bring some missile boats to get past any ships that are running these new counter-measures. Plus how awesome would it look! :)

Then, by making missiles more interesting, it makes defenders (with a little buff) a little more exciting as well!

Defender missiles need a re-vamp rather than just get rid of them.

You should be able to active the launcher and the defender missiles should fire automatically when a missile is fired at you.

Rats actually use defenders quite well, There is something we can learn from them. Also I vote to boost FOF aswell

Delete Defenders, or give me mirrors for lasers. Missiles don't need ANOTHER pvp nerf.
Or if they do buff defenders, missiles should do more damage to even it out.

1) Delete defenders, add proper anti-missile mid slot EWAR.
2) The poor fools who trained Defenders get the invested SP refunded.
3) Ship bonuses to Sensor Damps are changed to increase effect of this anti-missile EWAR.
4) Sensor Damps themselves stay as they are.
