Baiting is overpowered, it needs a serious nerf— traps are too good.

Hi.

I'd like to present my opinion that baiting in EVE is way too strong, and should be nerfed.

The worst part about baiting in EVE is, often times you have no way of knowing (short of spies in your enemies' comms) that a trap is about to be sprung.

There are many ways you can set up traps in EVE.
You can have people bridge in from a black ops or titan, you can jump caps in with a cyno— you can even have dictors logged off near the bait ship and perform a "loginsky" manoeuvre to pin down heavy ships.
CCP have recently buffed traps by adding the mobile scan inhibitor.

Imo, changes should be made that make setting traps more difficult, and makes bait attempts more transparent, so that with diligent scouting and intelligence gathering you should have a high chance of discovering your enemies' plans.

Seven Koskanaiken— counter baiting is also too strong.

The unpredictability is bad for the game's strategy. If you can't see what the enemy are doing, how can you counter it?

Now obviously there should be some uncertainty (EG: fog of war in RTS games) but too much is a bad thing.

If only there was a way to see if their titans etc were online......
If only there was a way to discover form up systems and covertly watch them......
If only you could place scouts in strategic places.......
If only there was a way to see if that oddly behaving ship had been involved in hotdrops before....
you have so many tools......
and yet you selected forum whining.....
my advice is pick a different tool.

You don't have to win every fight to win a war, and the reality of some wars, is you only learn stuff about the enemy by engaging them.

Everytime test drops someone from a scout, they burn the scout, leastaways if anyone that was logged on to our intel channel at the time is logged on next time the scout is used.

ie, your group collective awareness of the ability of your opponent, should be superior to any individual, even the best FCs.

I just hang the old worm out there and they usually go for it. So I jerk em around a little and they fight for a while...and then they just kinda lay back and accept it.

OP, what you should be supporting is a mandatory 15min undocking of any and all war targets in declared war.

Just have the station systematically boot those cowards into space and not allow them to redock for 15 minutes.

Keep up the good work. We're all pulling for ya.

Fit Ship Scanner, scan suspect ships, analize (cyno?), run/attack.

But yes, in general more cruising, less dropping would be nice Blink But that won't change so quickly, the advantages hotdropping gives you are just to good.

This should be the teaser line printed on the jacket for the next reprinting of "The Game"

While I don't agree with the OP, I don't believe the points you're making really make sense.

If only there was a way to see if their titans etc were online......
- How would you know in advance the names of the Titan pilots about to blob you?

If only there was a way to discover form up systems and covertly watch them......
- How can anyone watch every single potential form up system? Let alone all the times they are cloaked or waiting to login...

If only you could place scouts in strategic places.......
- A scout cannot prevent many traps, including Black Ops traps and all login traps.

If only there was a way to see if that oddly behaving ship had been involved in hotdrops before....
- Reasonable.
