I too am falling victim to the dreaded Socket closed monster. Today twice in Enemies abound 5 of 5.

I came here looking to see if I was the only one having this happen, both good and bad to see I'm not the only one. Tonight it happened twice within 10 minutes of logging in the first time, and within 10 minutes of relogging in again.

I have had this happen several times this week, and at first I thought it was my ISP so I got them to change out my modem, do all sorts of checks and tests, screenshots etc and they can find no problem on thier end.

CCP this is on you.

Since the release of Rubicon I have experienced a large jump in lag, Rubber-banding and the closing of sockets. I need to get a socket opener or buy more sockets.

MORE SOCKETS!

Has anyone successfully resolved this? I've been flawless for over 1 year. Get Rubicon 1.1 and now I'm not able to play for any length of time. This is a real issue as I'm paying REAL dollars.

I expect this to be resolved ASAP, CCP...

Git'r done.

I have also started to get the socket closed error the day of the patch. Played trial flawlessly before, subbed to game then the errors started. I have tried all of the posted workarounds, and nothing has been a good fix. I think CCP should look onto their end of the game, because pingplotter is showing alot of packet loss on their servers, but not anywhere else on my ISP is fine.

while launcher says online a press on 'play' button results to following message:

Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.

now eve login screen appears with Server:Tranqility Status Unknown

a wireshark trace tells us :
66 8.282572 10.0.0.30 87.237.38.200 TCP 62 50745 > quake [SYN] Seq=0 Win=8192 Len=0 MSS=1460 SACK_PERM=1
67 8.284922 87.237.38.200 10.0.0.30 TCP 54 quake > 50745 [RST, ACK, NS, Reserved] Seq=1 Ack=1 Win=0 Len=0

for me it looks like server rejected the connection --- any DDOS script gone wild perhabs?

from reading all the posts it looks like this behaviour moves --- or increases --- because I have this just for 2-3 days now.
It also started with blocking my 2nd client only but meanwhile I cannot login at all

update:
approx 45 minutes later first client could connect again ---- 2nd client still same issue

Now it's happening to me. Tonight, I can't log on for more than five minutes before the socket closes.

Funny enough it's stopped i was able to play normally yesterday and today. So either somebody sneaked into my house and changed my internet connection or developer has done something right.

Having the same problem. Socket closes. When EVE drops my internet drops as well.

I play from Egypt. Changed the port but to no avail. Called up my ISP but everything is working fine there.

Just a few days ago i had problems with display drivers and now this...What is going on? I have never had so many problems with EVE before.

Edit:

Information:
Country: Egypt
ISP: TE Data
OS: Win 8
Router: Linksys
Connection: Ethernet cable and wireless for laptop.
Speed: 2mb
EVE Client disconnects after 1 min of starting the game.

Solutions i have tried:
Restarting my router.
Called ISP for answers, they said that everything ok on their side.
Restarted my comp.

I am not usre if this helps but here is the tracert.

So there we go after 2 days of no probs, launched steam, launched launcher, downloaded some small patch 24 mb and it started again. I guess once again someone sneaked in at night and changed my ISP back to the old one. Definitely not gonna renew my pilot licence once this one expires. It's pointless to start paying monthly for something that doesn't work.

Question: When you lose your connection do you lose ALL internet connection?

I keep losing all my internet connection when i'm playing an online game or do a Skype call, so i know it is not CCP-s fault but rather something is messed up in my router.

cheers

@Alice: if you're using a wireless connection try connecting your cable. If that works fine than there's something wrong with your adapter. Maybe software update or new device. To be honest there could be so many causes and simple solutions. Need more details.

So played yesterday for 4 hours got disconnected twice so there is some kind of improvement.

I have found a problem for my solution.
I kept getting disconnects to all my internet traffic, not just EVE. Mainly when i was using Skype and watching vids.

My router was just too old, i replaced it with a new one and i haven't had a problem since then.

Cheers

Well, I'm still having the issue. I thought it might have been my ISP as I've been seeing some dropped pings. I have replaced my cable from the pc to the cable modem, I have installed a clean O/S (Windows 8.1). Did a clean install of EVE,..

Still while on Windows 8.1, I couldnt stay connected for much longer than 10 minutes. Not even long enough to get all my settings/overview setup the way I like it.

All the time, my pinging of the EVE server (forget the IP right now) never dropped... so, thats starting to eliminate the ISP at this point.

I'm hearing lots of people having this issue, but very little from CCP on it.

Managed to play yesterday for some time. Launched a game an hour before a server maintenance shutdown, everything was fine. Tried to play after servers were restarted and can't stay connected for longer than 10 seconds.

I have also been getting dropped sockets like crazy for the past 3 or 4 days. When the socket drops, Evegate will not load, either. Other websites work fine. This is not an ISP issue. This is a CCP issue. In the course of 45 minutes, I dropped a socket 10 times.
