If K-Space stands for "Known Space", why do we not call it U-Space? That would totally make more sense.

As for why J-Space instead of W-Space?
"Double-U" takes longer to say as opposed to "Jay", and us J-spacers are all lazy fucks.

Thought the Jovians used to live in the Heaven constellation?

And isn't it called J-space because the system names all start with J?

The official name for j/w-space is Anoikis, btw. Let's all refer to it as Anoikis from this point forward.

This was always the impression I was under, though the Jovian thing is kind of a neat theory too.

Sleepers are Jovian constructs.

Its simple. When the jovian plague hitted them, they retreated to the corr of their empire, leaving the majority of their space abandoned. Anoikis was one of their domains.

Oh, Do go on... no seriously ive got nothing better to do then listen to all the petty arguments and feeble trolling attempts...

The sad thing is i'm not sure if i'm telling the truth.

Not according to the books. The jovians and Sleepers are too separate races. The sleepers were less advanced than the jovians until the sleepers had a major breakthrough in Virtual Reality. Meaning their scientists could work for years inside VR in a matter of seconds.
When the Jovians succumbed to the Disease however the Sleepers couldnt come up with a cure. This pissed of the Jovians as they beleived they were not trying to save them, after this disagreement the Sleepers left New-Eden and eventually came across Anoikis.
Now the reason they havent actually woken up yet is another matter. I cant remember if its because of a malfunction or because of the AI that formed in the virtual reality and took over Jamyl Sarum that caused them to be forever sleeping.

Probably should read the books again to refresh my memory.

But yeh all the constructs in w-space are actually full of sleeping members of this race which is where the new technology for dust clones came from The entity that took over jamyl Sarum instructed the Amarr scientists where to find this advance in implant and capsuleer technology allowing the engineering of dust soldiers and the transfer of consciousness without a capsule.

Edit

Oh the guy above me linked basically the same thing except probably better worded. And seems to have a slightly differenct story than the books. Probably cause the info in the books is coming from a character and is bias.

You just had to ruin my fun with facts, jesus...

Edit: actuallt, the link provided above says that the sleepers are most likely a jovian splinter cell set out to find a cure.

Edit 2: It is unclear when exactly the Sleeper group split from the Jovian Empire. Some indications, such as the presence of Jovian Motherships (more on this later), indicate that the Sleeper group could have been among the part of the Jovians that was left behind with the Jovian Disease when the Jovians relocated out of the Heaven constellation by the end of the Second Jovian Empire. [6] The dating of certain relics seem to indicate that the split happened a lot earlier, but we know for a fact that the Sleepers has a permanent presence in the Ani constellation at one time due to the vast number of artifacts and ruins they left behind there. [7] The Ani constellation lies within a few jumps to the Algintal constellation which is known to have been the home of an advanced human civilizations that had persisted since the closure of the EVE Gate; the Yan Jung nation. On the topic of the Jove, how many other people connected to Jove space Sunday after downtime? Our static had a hole open into it, even had a guy go through and spend all of two seconds in system.

I call it X-Space. One, it is "unknown" and x is an equally spooky letter.

Two, it feels like every time you roll you run into someone you recently had an explosive intimate encounter with. Though I suppose that would make it more like "Ex-Space".

CCP ignore me please, I make too much sense.

I saw one of your guys mentioned this in a pub channel. Sadly our chain was not so exciting that its worth talking about. I am assuming this was a glitch in the server and not actually intended as he was booted back into the sun or something?

Yeah. The lead up involved scanning our new static, it not letting them jump, jumping and having the hole spit them back out and close, and then after downtime BAM. Jove space in the static. I've got the shot of siggy I took. All hubs were at -1 jumps. To quote another guy, "That's less than right in front of us!"

Edit: OH, and the Jove hole was actually two wormholes within a few thousand meters of one another, with one collapsing as soon as the guy landed.

They thought they broke wormholes.
