It seems most of the times I've died in low sec were because I ran across a group of two or three bandits. So I was thinking, as I warp around bits of low sec, could a travel battleship (Hyperion) work? Like:

Medium blasters to get a lock / track on smaller ships.
Auto targeting cruise missiles
Sensor boosters
Armor reps
Afterburner

My thinking is that should keep me from getting jammed, give me a chance to gate out while also possibly putting a few choice hits on the weakest ship (probably the tackler or logistics of the bunch). Also, with medium turrets capacitor shouldn't run out anytime within a fight.

So is this crazy thinking or have ya'll ever done something similar. Yeah I could hotbox a scout, but outside of that... Nothing is worse than just getting locked down for 5 min, picked apart and then ransomed.

No one ship will do everything you want it. Pick a strength you want to focus on and make it stronger. When you fight be mindful of your weaknesses and dont jump into a fight blind if you have the chance not to. I recommend a flight or two of ecm drones for solo so you have a chance to jam tacklers in a pinch. Light drones for killin frigs.

Also, no medium blasters on your hyperion. Blasters have the best tracking so you should do fine when your targets are webbed and you can improve that tracking even more by manual piloting.

I also recommend starting with frigs or cruisers as you seem to be newer to pvp and bs are not good for learning to pvp.

I didn't even consider using specials drones. I'll read up on that.

I'll look at the large blasters then too. I've only used hybrid and all they did was finally lock and then shoot volleys off into space.

Nowadays, traveling in any BS solo in lowsec is certain death. Warp speed changes and all of that... No missiles on a gallente bs, ever.

However, if you must, an MJD and/or AB are almost mandatory. Undersized guns on ships is not usually wise, but I have had success with it on Thorax and brutix, but that was back before rebalance. An old corpie would futz around in a medium blaster megathron, but that was long ago too.

Bottom line, doing stuff like that is fun, but give it an obscene tank and dont expect to redock in your ship.

To live through low sec gate camps, you need one thing. Speed.

Speed can hlep you crash the gate, should you run into a death camp. A properly heated MWD and an OK tank will help you survive just about anything.

Don't use BS, and certainly not solo BS in this meta, they are trash. I would stick to cruisers and under. Anything above cruiser is really bad currently, and even more so for solo stuff / running gate camps.

Solo BS isn't THAT suicidal... People tend to think you're a cyno :P

But yea traveling in a BS is not advisable.

I've heard from people who've had great success with maurader battleships for solo pvp after their recent buff. I personally dont own one.

I've heard these stories as well, but for every "good kill" (maybe two BCs, or four or five cruisers, something like that per "kill") I've seen plenty more losses with hilarious kitchen sinks or blobs just killing the 1.5b+ ISK ship that's "amazing."


I do have to say, MJD Armageddon with Bouncers was fun. Got a few cheeky frig kills in it (just MJD out, most rock disruptors for camps where I was at) since they burn straight at you giving your sentries perfect transversal. But again, limited use and I went in with an alt spying +1.
