Dummy turrets/bays

Hi,

as there are visible turrets/bays on the ships in space - it screams "bait" if no weapons are equiped on ship - so no content. Also to engage or not often decided upon what weapon system is equiped.

What if we would have variants of same visual weapons dummies vith same view as original guns but with low fitting requirements and no functionality.

Or we could have some midslot module (ewar) to mimic visualisation of different weapon system when active

Also would be cool to put some owersized dummy modules on smaller ships visually

Totaly dunb idea or what?

like this - potential for content, and shouldn't be too hard to implement!

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

I could see how low fitting requirements for dummy (non functional) weapons would be something that's possible.

However I don't agree with changing one weapon system to visually look like another. Mainly from a 'would this really be possible' point of view.

are you talking about having some real weapons on a ship with a dummy fitted - simple fix - make 1 dummy module take up 1 turret/launcher slot, or alternatively, give it a penalty that prevents any other turrets/launchers being fitted.

almost noone is using look at tactic to figure out possible equipment - whoever does should benefit from it IMO.
Adding some fake turrets would remove the value of visual inspection of your target.

Agreed.

Since there is only a fairly small proportion of people putting Look At to good use, I guess dummy turrets would just make these people not bother anymore, since anything they see could turn out to be false information. Adding dummies would just completely kill the utility of the Look At feature, instead of rewarding people able to use it with a little extra info on their targets.

Oh no do you have to gimp your fit do get someone on your bait?

Just fit guns to your bait, they don't even have to be online to be visible. Next
