Double damage in exchange for boosting bandwidth as one variant
Double speed as another

Double both if boosted twice, but only possible from small to large in bandwidth increase.

This is not to be confused with basic overheating. This is overclocking.

Small drone types could be overclocked by two factors:
First increase to 10 bandwidth
Second increase to 25 bandwidth

Example:
A normal Hornet II, normal bandwidth 5 Mbit/sec
IF overclocked to 10 Mbit/sec
This would take the DPS for a Hornet II, and increase it to 30
OR
take the speed for the Hornet II and increase it to 7,680 m/s

IF the same Hornet II was taken to 25 Mbit/sec, then it could apply both effects.

Medium drones could only be overclocked in one direction, as they already require 10 Mbit/sec.
A Vespa could either jump it's damage to 48
OR
take it's speed up to 3,840
But never both, since it has no higher options.

Large drones are already at maximum performance, and cannot be overclocked in this proposal.

This would do nothing but make it super-easy for battleships to blap frigates with small drones. Given that small drones aren't exactly underperforming in the anti-frigate role, this really isn't needed.

Not supported.

Because battleships with 125 bandwidth are currently challenged by frigates?
These drone boats tend to keep a wave or two of smalls simply because they can, and easily with their drone bay size.

Also, no ship with less bandwidth than is required can use this function, as a smaller drone size is effectively demanding the resources of the next size up.

Your point is welcome, as it demonstrates a backhanded testimony that this will not impact frigates more than they already have been.
At least not in a drastically game changing way.

A small set of smart bombs being able to wipe out 125 bandwidth worth of drones, power to the frigates!

"Overclock drone evasion subroutines" = AI stops targeting them.

I'd buy it in a second.
