General rule is set it between 100-120% of the market value of the goods to be moved. Any higher and people will shy away thinking it is a scam contract. Too low they dont deliver it.

I have posted contracts with 8-10 billion collateral before. They actually get done, although you need to pay a bit of a premium for it.

I saw it as a bit of a lottery ticket. Most times, the contract will get done, and I'll be down my 20 million or so and will just set up a contract to bring it back to where it started. The hope was that someone would take it without taking precautions against cargo scanning, and pirates would scan the ship, see three PLEX and enough other goodies to make it worth 2-2.2 billion, and think 'This is worth ganking'. Then the pirates would be up a few hundred million, and I'd be up a few billion.

I never won that lottery and have since ceased purchasing tickets in it, but I do fairly often send legitimate 1.5-2.5 billion ISK collateralized courier contracts around from trade hub to trade hub.

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

The corporation "Dropsuit" regularly posts and fills contracts ranging up to 45b collateral. But you're going to need to post a hell of a reward to get them accepted, and it'll take a while for the enterprising sneakier haulers to get to it.
