Clear all cache file on client.
Clear all settings.
Deleted all overview setting.

Restart client with all video setting to max.

Lower video setting to your choice

From now never freezed.

Does not resolve the issue on my end. I have done all that and even reinstalled. Used noob overviews as well.

I would very much like to know if my computer becomes officially unsupported by CCP as soon as possible. I really do not want to buy a new computer but I will if y'all officially give up on solving this problem and that's what it takes. Is there any other way I can update my training queue other than installing EVE on a computer that works?

The GeForce 9400m is technically below our minspec (see http://www.eveonline.com/faq/client-system-requirements/) so it might be time to get a new computer.

We haven't given up on this yet, but so far we've been unable to repro this issue and we no longer have working Macs that fit your specs. The only changes to low level graphics code in Rubicon 1.1 have been to address crashes (or work around driver crashes) so we can't simply revert those - we have to find solutions that work on all the different configs out there.

I'm on an 320m with the exact same problem.

I believe this was mentioned earlier, but to confirm. My main character locks up about 30 secs after undocking. A newbie char I created for fun works fine. Running mac with geForce 9400 video card. Seems odd it works with on character and not another.

Roger that, I hope there's a fix for this either way (especially since at least some people with newer Mac boxes seem to be having the same trouble) but I appreciate the info. When I read 2009 back to myself and realized it is 2014 I kind of thought it might be time. The plus side is when I do get the new machine I can let my girlfriend use this one. Who knows, maybe she'll play some Counter-Strike or something with me (sadly there's no hope for EVE, she's just not a hardcore gamer).

The UI freeze issue seems to be unrelated to the graphics configuration. I have gotten it on a Mid 2012 Retina MBP, as well as an earlier MBP, both running 10.9.x, running the EVE Mac client in windowed mode.

All I have to do to repro the issue is load up the client, park my ass in space or in a station, and wait. Sometimes a little, sometimes hours, but eventually the UI will lock up.

IIRC Activity Monitor shows that the app is doing a significant amount of work, so my guess is that it's repeatedly rendering the same frame.

I'm experiencing the same. Only one account is locking up while the other is working fine.

EDIT: Never-mind, its happening on both accounts again.

I can get it to hard crash every time (locks up whole computer) simply by opening up the star map.

It's has also done it once when opening the in game browser window.

It's been happening to me since this past Monday, 2/3/14.

So far no trouble logging in and no crashes (at this point) while warping or undocking. If I open the star map. It flickers a couple of times and then crashes like everyone said. You can't do anything but hear music, etc. Apps like TeamSpeak continue to work in the background. Was not able to use keyboard commands to force quit.

Have been playing almost a year with no issues like this. Yes, the machine is old, but worked fine until Rubicon 1.1x. Something changed at that point. I would go back and look into what changed.

Yes, it's time for a new computer (which I wish I could pay for with isk!), however it was running fine until the last major patch. Cashed again this morning as soon as I opened the star map after 2/7/14 patch.

I do appreciate all you are doing to resolve this. I'm a new FC and vary wary of taking any fleets out until this is fixed. Hope you can find what changed.

Same problem here, worked until about a week ago now black screen and flickering mouse. I've tried all the normal stuff and am still stuck hoping to see a fix soon. I'm guessing it definitely has to do with the graphics card, the symptoms point towards that. Really dying to get on this weekend.

Here's my specs:

Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Software OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)

Doesn't work for the majority of us, still get the hard locks.

Interesting, I'll give this a try. Might give us some clues if I can repro with this setup.

And for CCP saying our problems are below supported system requirements the 320m is having problems as well, 320m isn't below supported system requirements, it meets it.

Well at least we have other games we can play until it's resolved... Roll

I'm having similar problems to everyone here as well. My client will freeze up (and make my computer fully to partially freeze up) right when the character selection screen should appear. The character selection screen never appears but if I wait until the computer becomes responsive again I can see the cursor change as it moves over the spot where the character selection boxes should be and I am able to choose a character that way. Sometimes the client (and subsequently the computer) will lock up again and I'll have to force quit or restart and sometimes the station loads as usual. Once I've logged in I can play almost normally, sometimes when in space if too many things load grid at once, or if I drop out of warp onto a busy grid, or if I try and move the camera around too fast the client will freeze up for a bit but it usually becomes responsive again after a few minutes.

Before the patch on February 4th I had no issues with Eve. I always play in windowed mode with all the graphics set to minimum. I used to be able to run up to three clients simultaneously but now cannot run more than one (if I'm lucky enough to get it to work).

That's not what I said - the 9400m is below minspec, that's all I was pointing out. As soon as we get some sort of repro inhouse we can start trying out some fixes - we are still working on this.

I think this is appalling. How can you suddenly blame people's hardware when this is clearly an issue from a small patch that was supposed to fix small graphical problems etc. the simple fact is before your patch on the 4th of Feb these supposedly out dated machines were still running the eve client perfectly well.

How do you intend to compensate mac users?

Disgraceful

Calm down, it happens. Especially when we're not the exactly the target audience. And we're lucky CCP is taking a serious interest in this.

I've tested this on another MacBook and it wasn't working there either it has the same graphics card. BUT when I tested it on an iMac that has the new ATI graphics card it worked great, ended up playing for two hours and setting up my skill tree lol. So yeah it's definitely the older graphics cards.

Can get it to lock up any time by switching to an overview with pos mods on it, or other anchorable structures - like cargo containers, mobile depots, etc.

GTX690s on a mac pro. Started with the patch on the 4th.

what's worse is the debugger won't output anything from the process, so have no clue what's going on. Leave those structures off the overview and no probs.

If CCP wants the Cider crash reports, PM me, I can email them.

Seems to me that the issue is only present for those of us with Nvidia cards (judging from the replies above and on this thread: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=270356&p=2). The 4th Feb patch notes mention an Nvidia "fix" so I would imagine that is where the problem lies.

Any progress with reproducing the issue at CCP?
