"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The summary of the previous week 5/2014 can be found here. Available is also the overview 2014

The current "This week in EVE" gives on overview of the week from February 1st to 7th

Dev blogs and official information
  • Worlds Within a World - Forum discussion
  • In celebration of the first decade of the EVE Universe, CCP revealed plans to erect a monument in Reykjavik, Iceland to honor those who have participated in establishing the massive virtual universe of EVE Online. The monument will stand atop a half a meter tall metal-plated concrete platform that will have the names of all the main characters of all active EVE Online players (as captured on March 1st, 2014) etched upon it. Discover all the details about the EVE Universe Monument!

  • Insights into 2013 production and destruction - Forum discussion
  • CCP Quant compiled a very interesting overview of production and destruction in EVE during 2013. Check out the dev blog to see where the large production centers are and where stuff is getting blown to bits and pieces. You can also play around with the data yourself here.

  • Community Spotlight: NickFuzzeh - Forum discussion
  • The huge battle of B-R5RB featured thousands of players fighting it out. There were hundreds of thousands more who couldn't participate directly; many of them relied on the epic stream provided by NickFuzzeh! Thank you, NickFuzzeh!

  • Featured Fansite: Quafe.de
  • CCP Gargant presents in his 'Featured Fansite' a randomly chosen EVE Fansite. This time he features the German blog site Quafe.de which is updated regularly and has a lot of good content. Even if you are not German speaking, you might want to have a look at this Fansite!

Devposts on the forum and news
[list]
  • Disappearing Freight Containers in Space
  • We recently deployed a bug fix that corrected the issue of unanchorable freight containers jettisoned into space persisting through downtime. As a result, numerous players who were unaware of this unintended behavior and were uninformed of the fix, lost their freight containers and all the items inside. Players who were affected by this issue should file a support ticket as soon as possible, with a subject line including the words “Freight Container”.

  • Volunteer recruitment for the EVElopedia team
  • The ISD volunteer team YARR, which assists players in contributing to the EVE wiki and which maintains official content there, is recruiting! Please check ISD Detroit's recruitment thread for more details!

  • [Rubicon 1.x] New way of acquiring the Astero, Stratios and Nestor
  • With a future Rubicon 1.x release we will introduce new ways to aquire the Sisters of EVE ships Astero, Stratios and Nestor. Any sites that spawn 'Sentient' Rogue Drone Frigates, Cruisers or Battleships can drop certain items which then can be exchanged in the SoE LP-Store for the actual ship blueprint copy.

  • [Rubicon 1.x] Drone Assist change
  • Coming soon, in a Rubicon point release 1.x, we are planning to add a hard cap to the number of drones that can be assisted to a single player. Currently, we are planning to set that cap at 50. Read more about this change, which will affect large scale fleet battles, in CCP Rise's forum post.

  • Universe Data Migration and Third Party Developers
  • Third party developers were worried that with the change to a new data format with the Universe Data Migration the third party developers were forgotten and not supported. CCP Nobody and CCP Lebowski point out that in the first step nothing will change except at the CCP backend and that the main focus lies currently on providing a bug free migration. Expect a dev blog soon!

  • Beer Online!
  • CCP Sledgehammer continues his beer brewing experiments and provides useful insight in the process of brewing beer. A good read!

  • Rapid Missile Update
  • CCP Rise continues to read and answer the player feedback regarding the Rapid Missile Update. There is a solid and productive discussion going on.

  • Fiction: Tibus Heth
  • What happend with...

This is a bit misleading indeed as it should be 2014 of course :) The topic has been corrected.
