I have been on the trial for a couple of days now an I have been wondering if I will be able to use a serial key on my account. I've been wanting it for a while from steam so I've been wondering if I will need to make a new account or I can enter my serial key and my account is automatically upgraded.

afaik you can, but if you are running an extended trial from a buddy invite then your buddy won't get his free 30 days/PLEX

This should work just fine. In the event that it does not, you can contact our Customer Support team by submitting a petition under the 'Billing' category.

Once made your character name cannot be changed. You can however start a new toon with a better name and transfer old characters face to your new character for a fee (20€ or something IIRC).

Portrait-transfer was removed from game when new 3D-avatars were added. It would not make much sense anymore, since for old portrait to represent new char accurately, it would need to have exact same body features, which is impossible to do manually.

you normally can change your character name if your new vi petition, also u can change upper case to lower case letters via petition

CCP wants you to live with your actions so if u scam and suicide gank hard you can't simply change ur name.

One of my ingame friends petitioned to have his name GROFAX IRONFORGE changed to Grofax Ironforge. The petition was rejected.

once u activate the serial key and become a full member of eve online community....i'd highly recommend you stop using the steam version and switch to the ccp standalone version.

1. u cannot multi-box steam version.....steam wont let you. (Multi-box means u can run more than one full eve online account on your pc at the same time)

2. CCP standalone version is less problematic on patch days than steam version imo.

3. CCP standalone version doesnt require you to be logged into steam to run it.

dont worry your username and password you created in the steam version will work fine in the standalone version of the eve client.

Steam can be multi-box'd. I do it currently with 2 accounts. Havn't had any trouble with patches yet, but I've had a lot of trouble in other games so I'm with ya on that one.

I recall reading about problems with multi-boxing the Steam version a while back, but it was either fixed, or I'm just lucky :P

The OP already upgraded though so it's moot anyway. Welcome to EVE!!!
