{Snipped quote of a deleted post. -- ISD LackOfFaith}

To be fair (not that the OP deserves it), there are 2 exe files.

One executes the launcher (wrong one to try and Billy suggested the other one)

The other doesn't execute the launcher and goes straight to the login screen (this is the one Billy was suggesting).

Seraph Caelestis wrote:
So check here again, OK run the exe from inside the eve folder. Game didn't launch. But the launcher did.

Wrong exe file. Go into the bin directory and try exefile.exe

Can also try clearing the cache, but I'd go with the exefile.exe first

That's not what people are telling you to do. I've got a comp sci degree and I run a business fixing people's computer problems. I (and many others) would be more than happy to provide assistance to someone who doesn't think we owe them.

Im tellin ya, tracert to the patch server I would bet isk that it takes a broken route... The fact that it happened during post update patches is a coincidence.

Well, nothing. Cleared whole computer of eve stuff, ran the installer file again it fails.
Went to a eve website, logged in, tried to download the three files there. One being the installer, which was exactly the same as what I had. Downloaded it anyways, tried to download payload 1 or payload 2. Nothing happens. Page just fails each time I try to download those, which is supposed to allow me to get going if the installer by itself dont work. Just my luck, it dont work. Again, I can download or stream, get data, play other games and post on here. Im lost.
Have no idea what is going on. I am having no other issues and at this point, I am pretty p oed to say the least and might as well cancel. Some of you have tried to help, but no ccp person has put up anything, nor have I seen anything anywhere that can help.
Why I cant be frustrated and mad is beyond me, but I am.
Thanks for a few here who tried to help.
Just leave the thread, cause me getting madder and madder over this isnt helping me. Nor anyone else.

Take care.

Run the following command in a command prompt:

tracert content.eveonline.com

I am certain now that it is not on CCPs end, it is a junk cache on comcast. Either that or the eve launcher messed your pc up so bad that your browser no longer works =D

This isn't the best place to ask for official CCP support. It's a community forum, not the helpdesk.

You need to raise a support ticket, which you can do through the website. At the top right of screen in the 'Eve Universe' dropdown. From there you can select "Support".

You'll have to login to your account, but you can raise a ticket for assistance.

Reading rabid's post above. I bet he's nailed it.

Had the same problem a couple of years ago.
Was a corrupt file in an upstream transparent squid cache.
I had access to the cache so could flush the offending URI, but you may be a bit stuck.
If you have an alternate internet option you may want to try that, at least until you get by the part where you're getting stuck.

Well for anyone who cares still. here is a update...
Went to wifes computer, went to eve where you can download the payloads....bam they downloaded np.
So moved them thru the network to my computer.
Ran the exe and those files in the same folder.....it got down. Slow though on the extract. Anyhow....hit finish, run eve on the checkbox. Didnt work, never worked the first time I installed eve either. So double clicked the icon it put on the desktop and wham launcher started, kicking and screaming flashing, but it started, everything loaded up, pictures, etc.
Bottom bar showed same thing....nothing happening. Put in name and password.....bottom bar nothing happening.
Play button grayed out.
Ran repair tool, nothing it failed just like before. So now Im back to where I was when I first posted, with a less patched game now. Yay.
So dont know what to do. During all this frustration earlier, I put in a ticket on the website, since I of course cant get in the game. Nothing there either yet.

Have you tried bypassing the launcher yet by running exefile.exe in the bin folder?

try clearing you DNS cache, i already had the problem where the launcher messed up the DNS.

basically, in start menu, enter 'cmd' in search thingy, right clic -> run as administrator

now you enter this 4 commands:

ipconfig /release
arp -d *
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew

what these commands do:

release the ip disconnecting the network card
clear the arp table
clear the DNS cache
re-ask for an IP to the DHCP, reconnecting your network card

once done, go in eve folder and launch game from the \bin\exefile.exe, if you are not up to date (you shouldn't), it will patch you by stating a quick setup then launcher.

let launcher do the update, once you can play, close the launcher, and restart from \bin\exefile.exe rince & repeat until no more patch (can happen to be a few in a row)

yeah, i know, i was about to have the same reaction as you, but even if OP, due to his attitude, doesn't deserve the answer, i also think that others would benefit from it, and i would save them the trouble of creating YET another thread.

it's not like the launcher is not giving a {Snip.}tone of ppl grey hair since it's live so......

plus i hop that would make OP go back in the game, where i have no doubt he will now be hunted like mad for being..well i lack words for a non-bannable acurate description

Even when I get patch errors, closing and restarting the launcher always works.

2. Be respectful toward others at all times.

The purpose of the EVE Online forums is to provide a platform for exchange of ideas, and a venue for the discussion of EVE Online. Occasionally there will be conflicts that arise when people voice opinions. Forum users are expected to be courteous when disagreeing with others.

4. Personal attacks are prohibited.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not beneficial to the community spirit that CCP promote and as such they will not be tolerated.

5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

7. Use of profanity is prohibited.

The use of profanity is prohibited on the EVE Online forums. This includes the partial masking of letters using numbers or alternate symbols, and any attempts at bypassing the profanity filter.

12. Spamming is prohibited.

Spam is defined as the repetitive posting of the same topic or nonsensical post that has no substance and is often designed to annoy other forum users. This can include the words “first”, “go back to [insert other game name]” and other such posts that contribute no value to forum discussion. Spamming also includes the posting of ASCII art within a forum post.

22. Post constructively.

Negative feedback can be very useful to further improve EVE Online provided that it is presented in a civil and factual manner. All users are encouraged to honestly express their feelings regarding EVE Online and how it can be improved. Posts that are non-constructive, insulting or in breach of the rules will be deleted regardless of how valid the ideas behind them may be. Users are also reminded that posting with a lack of content also constitutes non-constructive posting.

26. Off-topic posting is prohibited.

Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued.
