How did you get the 3D schematic for the model? Pulled it from the game files somehow?

TriExporter should be able to pull the model for any ship in the game into a format you can use in 3D software.Smile
You may need to convert it to a different format to make it something suitable for your 3D-printing software though.

Imicus looks broken. But it is not the fault of the printer for sure.

I think CCP Fozzie just found this thread. From a recent post of his:

Oh, and on a side note, an acetone vapour bath will help smooth the edges. Basically, small amount of acetone in a large jar, place a stand in jar, put part on stand, place jar on a hot plate, heat jar. It comes out beautifully.

This picture shows the differance beautifully.

Eve will make you work a solid month all on your own for your first cookie. Then kick you in the nuts and take that cookie, and laugh at you for thinking you could have a cookie at all.

Really Cool

Would love to have one of those 3D printers,

I have come across this recently, which shows a lot of promise as well as being free textures for printers.

First link is for a Cynabal that has been printed in modular fashion as discussed earlier.

The second link is for the selection of Ship and Drone files already made ready for printing.

Looks rather interesting to say the least.

What resolution was this printed at? What was your X/Y travel speed when doing the perimeters? Did you do an infill? Is this ABS or PLA? Was it printed with support material? Annnd finally, what slicing program did you use?

We used the UP! 2.0 software, This is ABS with support, resulotion was 0.20 mm. The slicing program was UP! 2.0. Angle:45 deg and 3 layer surface.

Also thank you for all the ideas and the support, there will be more ships for sure, the models are exported from cinema 4d to stl format,, because the printing software uses that format.

@Quantus and Dkeh Weis: Yes, if you look at the Daredevil it was made with the acetone vapour bath, but the acetone was low quality, now waiting for industrial grade acetone and we will give another try.

If you see somewhere Quin Narim and want to know more about tech specifics, pm him, he is the owner of the printer and the model Big smile

The third image has the best quality and based on what I see there I'm not exactly impressed. But having said that I can see the potential in the 3D printing thing it just needs refining. A lot of it. Let's see what it can do in five years time.

Tell your friend he gets an A+ for effort.

And here they are,

More Megathron (because we are proud of it)

And some early stage Dram, Imicus (terrible paint), and smooth surface Daredevil

Back in the day, we had those little lead figurines we had to paint... Beholder, Tiamat... Cool

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Games Workshop may start shaking in their boots soon.

Find a game system you and your friends like, create your own models then place them on the table and start rolling die.

I may be a little over zealous and full of wishful thinking, but 3D printing is going to change things either way.

It looks like your daredevil and dramiel are going to eat that poor megathron :P. Seriously though that's pretty awesome. I am sure your models will only get better from here on out.
