Currently my level for this skill is at 4, my concern is wasting SP in taking it to 5. Is it worth it if I regularly fly ships that do use drones as some its dps. I fly mainly amarr with a small mix minnie. Has anyone saw any major benefits in taking it to level 5?

Your drones last a bit longer before dying. The question then becomes is that something, that would make a significant difference in your experience. After a fight are you going: "Damn if only my drones could have lived a couple seconds longer things would have turned out differently."? If not, train something else.

I would leave this at 4 until after you have trained other long train, marginal bonus skills like Trajectory Analysis and Astrometrics to 5.

It's in the 'marginally worth having' category of skills, not the 'OMG have to have this NOW' category.

I find that my Light Drones often go into armour HP during PVE, and it's a case of the **** hitting the fan very quickly, taking me by surprise. For long minutes they're fine, then suddenly one of them is doing. I can usually recall it to bay before it actually dies, but it's annoying and mildly stressful.

If the OP has the same frequent experience, then that's a powerful argument to train Drone Durability to 5 soon.

If you plan on using drones or a drone ship then train it to V.
