Hello,

I experienced this rather annoying problem several times, spending hours trying to find a solution. The problem is that after many warps and jumps, EVE crashes, either freezing your whole PC or sending you straight to your desktop. As a tech-savy person who has constructed dozens of computers and computer programs, I found it rather annoying that I could not fix this problem. However, after some more intensive searching and hours of experimentation, I have found a way to fix this problem for those with AMD/ATI graphics cards and on a Windows 7 computer (Not sure if this works on others). I have listed the p[procedure below. Please note that if you do not follow this EXACTLY something may be wrong. Also, this worked on my system using a few different scenarios, but it may not work for you. Don't hold me responsible if you damage your computers (though I doubt you would harm anything if you follow these steps exactly).

STEPS
1. Go visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2665946?#FixItForMeAlways and scroll down to "Resolution." Once you are here, download and run the "Fix it for me program. After it has run, close out of all programs except your browser.
2. Then, visit www.amd.com and look under "Drivers" on the left side (GPU's). At the top of the left column, you will find two options--drivers for a 32-bit system and drivers for a 64-bit system. Download the 13.2 catalyst drivers (DO NOT download the beta! It will crash and burn your computer when you try to play EVE!).
3. Once the program opens, follow the instructions until you are asked if you wish to uninstall your drivers or install new drivers. Uninstall your drivers. The alternative method is to manually uninstall your drivers, though I cannot explain that whole process here. Also, if you do not have Catalyst 13.2 or around that version, I am not 100$ sure it will work (though it probably will). If you do not have near 13.2, find another way to uninstall the drivers.
4. Once the drivers are uninstalled, your screen might go to a funky resolution. If this happens, it is GOOD. Don't revert your settings. If it doesn't happen, you probably configured something specially that I (or people with the off-resolution) were too lazy-didn't know how to configure.
5. When your PC restarts, it might still have the bad resolution. If so, this is good. If not, its still fine.
6. Open the Catalyst 13.2 driver installer again and install the drivers.
7. It should install correctly and if your resolution was off it should automatically readjust. However, I personally got an error message, but after looking the in the log and noticing that the resolution was fixed, i determined it was a false-alarm. Reboot your computer.
8. If you resolution had not already changed, it should have. If not, confirm you installed the drivers by searching for "Catalyst" in the search menu. If you find the program, launch it and confirm everything works. If all is well and your resolution has not changed, just readjust it in the Windows settings menu.
9. After all of this, launch EVE. You should no longer have any issues (personally, I have made 20 jumps and over 20 warps with no problems).
10. If you still crash after multiple warps, sorry. Make sure you followed the procedure--though this might not work for everyone.

TROUBLESHOOTING

1. There was an error message after installing the drivers, but my display is fine and all seems to be working
-Try reinstalling. If this doesn't work confirm your install in the log (look at the bottom for "(ARROW)result(ARROW)Success(ARROW)/result(ARROW)" on all with something like that. If it says failure or something along those lines, you screwed something up. If it says nothing, you're probably OK, it just might not have installed those components.
2. This didn't fix the problem!
-Like I said, this worked for me in a few tests. It may not work for you. I hope it does, but if it doesn't, at least you can add it to your list of things you tried.
3. Something went wrong with my computer!
-You probably did something out of order to made a mistake. This worked for me, but I cannot guarantee it will work for you. I see no reason for it to mess anything up unless user-error occurs. If something goes wrong, it is not my fault.

Once again, thanks for reading this! I hope I have helped you a lot. Like I said, this might not work for you but I think it is worth a shot. I cannot stress following these steps exactly enough, and if you fail to do so or have a problem, do not blame me.

Thanks,

PS: I haven't proofread this, I don't have the time. Please let me know if something doesn't make sense.

To explain what exactly you are doing:

If you follow this guide, you will be increasing the time Windows allows for a graphics card to not respond before it calls it a crash and attempts to restart the software. Then, you are confirming that your drivers are up-to-date by uninstalling them and reinstalling them. Hopefully this would fix the problem. if not, I have read that switching to Direct X 9 mode will help.

Switching the eve client to DX9 does also resolve this issue,

the issue seems to be with DX11 and eve, no other games where experiencing this problem on my PC (BF3/BF4/MineCraft?WOWP all working fine).

So before making changes to the registry, might wanna try that!

Cheers

These in essence do the same thing, avoid the problem. The problem is that DX11 causes a misinterpretation by Windows that the drivers have frozen/crashed. However, it has trouble restarting the drivers while EVE is running. When you perform this registry fix it allows DX11 to do whatever it is doing without a misinterpretation by Windows that the card has frozen up. I think this is the better solution, it sacrifices no quality and works just as well.
^That's my theory. Seems like the most-likely problem here, DX11 causing misinterpretation that the display drivers have frozen/crashed.
