Since todays patch it's happened to me many times, one of which resulted in a ship and capsule loss (Due to no E-Warp apparently 3 mins after).

After playing EVE and being in space for 5 minutes it happens. It's frequent.

The screen suddenly starts making strange black areas flashing then completely crashes, however the applications appear to still all be working. The only result to quit EVE is to force shutdown the computer.

The mouse still moves but clicking anything does nothing.

EVE is completely unplayable like this and this needs to be fixed asap.

Solution I listed has been removed, it changed NOTHING. EVE is still unplayable with these freezes.

This has started on my macbook too!?

Been playing for a few years on this macbook with no issues. If anything its been running better recently.. until today!? Just screen freeze, mouse still moves but can't force quit and have to restart mac. I reloaded and fortunately hadn't been killed and before the warp finished it did it again.. this then happened 3 times in a row. Going to wait tip i get home and load it on my bigger iMac.

I see the PC player base is getting more issues this patch too, maybe this is related as I see someone having a "flashing" issue.

Also, last night I was on SiSi and came across this exact bug we are getting. So CCP obviously patched something buggy from the SiSi server onto the TQ server.

It was too late when I discovered it to stop it... Sad

Different issue though, try and bypass the launcher.

Right click your eve client -> Show Package contents -> Contents -> Resources -> Click EVE Online then it should go onto the login screen ingame.

Apparently turning all graphics on the right to "Low" or "None" has fixed the issue for me (for now). Everything checked in the middle as well. Problem Is I don't like playing on such low graphics but it's fine for me until this gets solved.

I tested on SiSi yesterday that having all graphics as low or none and checkmarks (ticks) all off in the middle stops the crashing. So if crashing still happens with the checks in the middle turn the checks off. if it still happens then reply on this.

Everything at low/off with all middle ticks "unticked" I still have this problem. Seems to arise - at least for me - from right clicking in space.

I tested both and still gotten freezes as well so I removed the solutions on my main thread, i thought it was a possible fix but it was not. Unplayable day of EVE added with a loss of a ship Sad

Also confirming I have no bug report reply yet.

It might be best to make a new thread for that issue, lots of people are getting it but it's a different issue all together.

2 MacBook and it doesn't anymore on both.

I tried :

  • Clear client cache from Launcher
  • Remove folder "~/Library/Application support/EVE online"
  • Starting within the package contents : login Ok, then black frozen screen
  • Delete EVE Online, re-install, Re-patch (no choice)

Nothing works !

Similar.
I've had no issues with the game at all until today's patch..

2009 Macbook
OSx 10.6.8
2GHs dual core
2GB ram

1. Launch Client
2. User name and password
3. Launches to black screen

Tried the solution above: Users/library/..... etc and deleting the files.

Got the start-up video and then back to the black screen.

Same issue for me. Ran perfectly yesterday evening. It updated today when I tried to play, now can't play at all.

Log in, click play, black screen of doom.

I am getting the same issue as the OP: not the black screen of doom, but a complete freeze up. Haven’t seen this before today, but it has happened now three times in the last 20 minutes. Possible correlation with my going to change something in my overview settings.

"Enduring", "restrained" and "ample" as designations for starship components are foreign to the genre of high-tech science fiction and don’t belong in Eve Online. (And as for “scoped” …)

I had this problem last week but it only happened on one character. I was stuck warping to a station and every time I landed on grid everything locked up with the screen flickering. I didn't see any posts about it so I contacted CCP. They put my toon in the station and it was fine.

Until today. Now all my accounts are doing this and they are doing it from the character selection screen. The screen is black and flickering. The game is completely unplayable.

We need to find what you have that I don't. Ive put several hours on this build and have had no issue, even when running 3 clients at once.

I finally managed !!!

  1. Open client : right click on the the App and then "show package contents/Contents/Ressources/EVE Online
  2. before authenticating : Settings / window mode / Apply
  3. Authenticate and launch... the window get black and all screen frozen for 30 seconds and unfreeze and seems to work properly.

I tried to do the same procedure but re-activating full screen mode and my MacBook get frozen again Sad
The only way for the moment seems to be the window mode... until new patch...Roll
