Guaging interest for a helpful web service

Hey guys,

I'll start with a disclaimer, I'm not a trader of any sort. I'm a web developer with significant EVE experience, and I'm working on choosing a project to do.

In my spare time, I've been building a web platform that offers the tools to do whatever I want with it, really. It has built-in validation of accounts, fund transfers, etc. all working already, and I'm trying to decide what my first application to load on it should be.

Looking over this forum, it seems like there are a lot of loans/bonds being handled. While I'm perfectly aware that you don't want any kind of centralized lending service (haha Eve Bank anyone?), I was wondering what you'd think of a co-ordination service. Example:

Player A wants to take out a loan for 2 billion ISK, with 10% interest paid quarterly. He doesn't know who the best lenders are, so he creates an account on the website and browses the registered lenders. He picks the one with the best reviews (Player B), they do their transaction. The website registers this transaction occuring (either via API if either party wants to put that in, or via confirmation on the website from both parties). Player A then gives a rating and review for Player B's lending service, and Player B gives a rating and review for Player A's trustworthiness as a borrower. Future lenders and borrowers can then use that info for determining who they want to work with.

This service would be free to use. In the future, if there's interest, I would implement a "collateral" option as well, where the website corporation could be contracted items to hold as collateral if desired. For example, Player A wants a bond, with his Rork as collateral. He contracts the Rorq to the website corp, that shows up on the site as secured. Lenders could then browse listings of desired bonds that have been secured.

There are lots of other neat features that could be added to the service in the future if it's desired, but for now I'm curious how many people would be interested in using such a thing if it didn't require trusting any of your money to it.

Thanks!

I recently saw an advert for a Yellow Pages type website on the sell orders forum, but a website similar to Yelp would be more useful. I think such a thing would need to support more services than just public loans though, as those are not very popular. Simply creating a website like this will not turn you into Chribba, and it's likely incorrectly monetizing it will simply drive people away.

Yes, I'm aware of the potential roadblocks. Been through it all several times before, which is why I think I'm prepared to put together something truly useful this time :)

I guess the question is, if you don't think that public loans is enough, what would you really like to see? I'm able to build whatever is needed, but I don't know enough yet about the trading aspect of the game to know what would be useful to those players.

I still think there is a need of a useful web based trading tool.

I've been playing Eve since '05 and seen a lot of things come and go, some web based some not.

I don't mind paying a fee (whether it is ISK or $) but I want a tool that will do some certain things very well.

I'd be really keen to maybe chat to you more about this by mail or in game?
