This reminds of some ad campaign I saw on TV way back 15 or 20 years ago.

These little 15 seconds spots would popup saying only 'It's coming'. Talk of the water cooler for sure. Everyone was speculating what wonderful new and exciting thing was going to grace our little town. This went on for months. The suspense became almost erotic.

And then it turned out to be a stupid furniture store.

With that lesson in mind, I'm not paying much attention to this latest thing by CCP.

Mb its the countdown to when the eve gate reopens and we can escape to a new universe where WiS works Sov and Pos are fixed.. Pvp is balanced. All bugs are fixed mac and linux have proper clients.. You can paint your ships.. Everything that CCP has ever promised will be there..

I'm 98 percent certain the countdown is just falcon or somebody else trolling everyone. Its probably nothing big. Maybe the ishukone and concord HQs finally get fixed (lol nanites) or something minimal like that. That other two percent could be that they're switching back to the old forums, since its on the community site and not the front page.

I'm certain of its troll nature due to the fact the last countdown we saw was the DUST announcement at E3. Maybe Valve is finally merging with CCP? Gabe Newell to take over lead design in EVE since the EP spot is open?

Why would a Dust announcement be on the EvE community webpage? Its something not worthy of the front page of their main website, so I don't think it's a new feature of some sort. Its most likely just fan fest stuff.

I made the dust comparison to point out that its nothing to be excited over, as it isn't a major feature, or major announcement. Its something relatively minor, as you pointed out, as it isn't worthwhile putting it on the front page.

Likewise, I doubt its fanfest related, as they've never put up a countdown for anything FF related before as far as I can recall.

so, my main two assumptions are that its related to the forums or website in some manner, or its a somewhat minor in game thing like CONCORD and Ishukone HQs finally being repaired.

Edit: Major announcements happen usually with press releases. While it isn't to be ruled out, it would be odd as it doesnt coincide with their development cycle - a timer to an announcement is somewhat pointless.
