Is it just me, or is it not possible to 'load fitting' when near a mobile depot?

Bump, i am having the same issue. The message is somewhat missleading as it says "cannot load this fitting space", implying that it would work with "another" fitting. But i tried very basic fittings with no luck.

Do you already have modules in the slots?

No fitting services in space let you load saved fits. POS SMA, orca SMA etc. I suspect this is an overall EVE thing.

This is indeed an eve thing. When you fit a ship from a saved fitting it basically strips your ship of all its modules, dumps them in your hangar, then fits the correct modules from your hangar. When refitting in space, whether it be from a depot, tower module or ship with a SMA, you can only remove a module at a time and there are no definitive place for them to go (no item hangar) so using a saved fitting is impossible.

If I'm right with this previous assumption of how things work, that is.

No sig.

Sounds like a fair assessment, whether that's be design (lore wise it's probably more difficult to change a ship at SMA than in a fully equipped station) or an oversight I'm not sure of but given we're dealing with CCP it's probably an oversight.
