In case you live under a rock ASMR is the new form of gaining tingling sensations off people´s voices to generate endorphins in our brains and is easily achievable via Videos that you can hear in the comfort of your own room , with dimmed lights and dressed or undressed comfortably in bed.

This will explain via text what ASRM is.

And for the lazy I will post this:
Quote:

Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a neologism for a perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli. The nature and classification of the ASMR phenomenon is controversial. Tom Stafford, a professor at the University of Sheffield, says, "It might well be a real thing, but it's inherently difficult to research."

Now, I will proceed to show you this video, which has a well known ASRM "starlet" giving "triggers" , since each person is unique, not all triggers will work for everyone, but here are the most common ones as presented by Olivia.

Olivia´s" What is ASMR? 30 different BINAURAL triggers to find yours! " video, and remember these are to be heard from headphones, specially outside noise cancelling ones or in a very quiet environment.

There are also other well known ASMR "stars" you can easily find in youtube, and you will notice they all barely speak or speak in soft hushed tones as they pretend (roleplay) to paint your nails, brush your hair, choose your clothes, talk to you, engage in affectionate goodnight goodbyes , tuck you in bed or even have dinner with you and on and on.

The field by itself is an interesting canvas of hodgepodge pseudo and real "artists" trying to convey affection, warmth or plain techniques to stimulate you by the power of sound and sometimes, video.

Thus , since I know this is a serious place of enlightenment I humbly request if CCP could create videos of ASMR nature, like telling us to gently undock, pew pew, suicide, gank, and rob others in soothing voices as camera focuses on their faces with quiet backgrounds and pretend they are drinking with us, telling us to give them our money, explain to us in whispers as they pretend to tuck us in bed, why they are nerfing this or that ship or weapon system, comb our hair when they explain Sov changes , mechanics and casually gives us warmth with pretend hugs and caresses as they explain the decisions reached upon by the CSM or their own inner core of devs.

I would be willing to donate 1 plex "to the cause" in the hopes of inspiring a new ASMR friendly environment.

Here I will link you in case your interest is piqued and want to enter the open Club of ASMR braingasm, several videos of Artists in my spare time I have deemed to be true practitioners of their respective crafts.

Virtual Spa: Relaxing Haircut *ASMR* *RP* by VeniVidiVulpes
Here you get your hair cut

asmr grey man by Ephemeral Rift Here we are relaxed by an anonymous man that shows you the power of several household appliances and even fake dial telephone conversations, catalogued as an acquired taste by some and as a super work of Art in Tingling ASMR phenomena.

And finally this

Face Painting Artist - Most Requested ASMR Role Plays by TheWaterwhispers A video I enjoy for the PNL aspects and voice plus face acting in the roleplay.

I hope you enjoyed this small presentation of the wonderful world of ASMR and related youtube videos and hope some of you find your "triggers" if you are able to perceive them.

Come on CCP, make this possible!

Anyhow back to my regular hidey hole in OOPE and Data Gathering as usual.

Cheers

I don't think I could link the videos I watch to get a "....perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli."

I'd like to keep my acct in good standing, thank you very much.

ASMR huh? Videos that create a "distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli."

This totally doesn't sound like something that might evolve into a very bad thing... not at all.

I dislike the name ASMR - It's pure pseudoscientific woo. I'd call it "Kaioesthesia" from the same root as "synesthesia" and "paraesthesia" referring to a sensation, an "Kaio" from the Greek word for "tingles".

In any case, I listen to those videos all the time too. Great way to wind down at the end of a stressful day.

Brains are hardwired to behave in a certain way. We're different because our hardwiring is continuously altered by learning (experience). About 80 to 99% of the things we learn we do so without putting concious effort into it. That's the reason stimuli will have a unique effect on you.

ASMR is hard to prove is because no sane scientist will waste their time on it. If you're going to put money and effort into learning more about specific neurons firing; you'll want to formulate and investigate a more general theory.

I personally don't believe this to be new at all. More deliberate and specific yes. It is still something people have been doing for millenia; influencing sensory input and the way it is processed.

Did you know a loud bang will create a flash of light if your eyes are closed? It will even come from the right angle with the right magnitude.

I'm very happy people enjoy these video's. I'd rather not see CCP investing in this kind of stuff tho.

Oh yes. As much as I enjoy ASMR videos, CCP has no reason to get into them. I mean, where's the profit? Where's the PVP, sandbox-building and EVE-ness? Where, not to put too fine a point on it, is the grimdark?

OP's request is a strange one, but at least it got a conversation on the phenomenon started. Though maybe that discussion should be in OOPE.
