Why can't we customize the outsides of our ships?

Okay, you're worried about nudity? Blow their ship up or file a report. Problem solved. Quite frankly the ships in this game are very bland and there really aren't that many. I should be able to put custom decals on the sides of ships and other things like that. Please CCP allow me to be an individual in this game and have a little fun with RP. Otherwise you might as well have every ship look like the drake.

If it's a concern about 'bad' images: make some guildelines on what is and isn't allowed and have proposed nose art / decorations vetted by a specialist decorations board (could be players or CSRs or a mix). This worked fine in Pirates of the Burning sea.
If the concern is that it will cause more lag - which is entirely possible - then just don't do it. Big battles would be even more 'fun'.

Personally, I'd like the ability to er... decorate... player owned structures....

No. Many many mmos have custom guild symbols. Even if CCP just adds the ability to create a little sticker that goes on the side of a ship like the pirate factions have that would be a step in the right direction. They could at the very least give us set camo decals that we can apply to the ships. It's not difficult.

It wouldn't cause more lag if they automatically reduced the texture resolution of the images if they are too much. This happens anyway and is dependent only on system specs on the PC side, i think.

Actually, we're afraid you're not as artistic as you wish to believe. Besides, who wants to fight wars against multiple my little ponies?

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Because people would do all sorts of pointless things with their ships, I mean look at what people do with their custom names these days.... like yours for example What?
