Can you pls explain me what is this change exactly for because i dind't understand it well? Whats things it will allow CCP to make.

It will aloow CCP to easier edit Universe Data, such as adding star systems or altering/adding positions of existing star systems items such as stations, stargates and even planets.

I imagine this is the first step towards a more dynamic Universe where things can change more often and esier than they do now.

How about orbiting celestial bodies?

We used to be able to do this by editing the raw coordinates of bookmarks within the client, iirc

You do not recall correctly, this was never possible. The XYZ-coordinates were only displayed in the 'Create bookmark' and 'Edit bookmark' dialogues but you could not in any way edit the coordinates.

Didn't someone use code injection and a bunch of people get banned? This would be back when LV, MC, ISS, BOB were down south.

So to ask a dumb question, will this mean that this testing involves mirroring TQ? Or will it be unmirrored until further notice?

The devs want to test something most likely the process they will use to update the DB when they move the change to TQ needs a new test to check some process optimizations.

Per the other threads some time nexts week they will mirror TQ and test their p[rocess as described below. Best guess Wednesday per the devs after the Mass test confirms the DB changes are good.

First step they will make a mirror copy of TQ. This does not effect TQ except for the added time to process the copy at down time. I think.

Sisi keeps running and gets updated according to what the devs want to test using the DB it currently uses.

They then process the mirrored copy so it fits the rules for Sisi: all stations, POS and sov structures are deleted and the market is changed plus all the testing system stuff is added. This takes dev time so CCP Habakuk has to schedule some time in his day to execute and validate the changes.

The the server admins load the DB on to the Sisi server and then runs the patch that updates the TQ data to the version the devs want on Sisi. This tests the process TQ will go through when the change is added. The last time Sisi got updated with this change it took about a 3 hour down time to run the update script on the DB. This validates the time required so CCP can inform the TQ players how long the down time will be.

We dont like CCP getting there estimations wrongBig smile

Sisi wont get another mirror from TQ until the devs need one.

I am not able to download the mac patch. I keep getting exception reports.

Help?

Can you provide us with the exceptions? Pastebin is good for dumping the EVE Launcher logs to.

Wish I could. It outputs a large text file that I can not copy/paste. That said, I'm trying to re-create the incident again so at the very least I can screen shot the section of the code that it scrolls to, and it seems to be working fine now....

All that smells to me like a long term plan to add more systems in faster interactions... ;)

Bug reporting it will put the issue in front of a dev faster.
