Help! I've been hacked!

Hey there

So I attempted to log in today, only to find out that my account seems to have been banned from the servers.

I used the Aura Android app to look at my details and it turns out someone has logged into my account, stolen all my money, sold all my gear, and had me banned from the servers.

What can I do about this?

note: I am currently asking this on my alternate character. the one with the issue is Malromen

I have a reasonably complete list of what was stolen from me, too

Petition. So long as "someone" wasn't your kid brother, or you on a drunken binge last night and you just don't remember, the logs should show everything.

I hear filing a petition is a good move.

Just be prepared for it to take a little while to resolve. It will get priority but there is a lot of investigation that goes into these situations, and the expansion is about to go live as well.

Hope things get back to normal quickly.

As stated above, file a petition. It will take a few days for CCP to sort it out, so don't expect to get it back in few hours or so.

You stand quite a good chance of getting isk/stuff back if it has been directly transferred to another account. Not sure about what will happen if it had been sold off though.

If u had given the pw as in account sharing or if there was any evidence stating you weren't hacked then you are SOL.

On a side note, i know how it feels mate. My sympathies and hope you'll get it back soon.

thanks for the support, everyone. Glad to see the EVE community is (for the most part) more helpful than other online games, where hacked people just get laughed at. Big smile

I have filed a petition with CCP, and hope to hear back from them soon.

I'm really more interested in getting the account back, rather than the ships and ISK.

Would be really happy to get both, but the account itself (and the years of skill training) are more important than a couple billion ISK

Anyway, will post again when I get a result

Either PW was too easy to guess, PW was used on another site that was hacked, OP bought isk and got a virus, stored the PW on the computer, or on paper... etc etc... SOOO many ways to have it stolen not hacked lol.

see this i s why you don't bank, use passwords on a mobile device, or use wifi you know nothing about.


i see this all the time i have a receiver set up from when i installed wireless internet for people in the mountainous areas that can pick up all the information floating in the air, you be surprised how unsecured these new smart phones really are, not that i ever steal any thing from these dumb people or any thing.

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

Aura is a API key based app. API keys are readonly and can't be used in the slightest to steal accounts.

you will only get isk back

isk stolen from wallet and the isk from the sales of your stuffs

ive used aura on android for a while now and it only takes your api info which doesnt let it log into your account.... be sure to try and change passwords and file a petition at the very least. good luck recovering anything lost due to the breach.

There is no gear, there are assets.

@Scrapyard... yes tokens are the way to go if you want security.

Does anyone other than you know your EVE password?

Your brother?
Your girlfriend?
Your mom?
Your CEO?
The guy you've been playing with for three years and occasionally switches skills for you when you're gone?
The person running your corp forums?
The person running the fansite you log in to every other day?
The company providing your e-mail?
Your school?

Any place where you use the same password is a potential attack vector. If/when you get your account back, I recommend setting a password that you don't use anywhere else (as you should do with any other site). I'm not neccessarily saying that your school's sysadmins are interested in your spacebucks. But can you be sure that a PC you log in to is not filled with spyware or keyloggers, if you're not the only person with physical access to it?

Had someone accessing my account back in 09. Think might have had a keylogger grab my PW or something.

CCP will look into it, but be prepared for it to take atleast 4+ weeks.

Not sure if their procedure have changed since then, but what irritated me most back then was lack of info from their side. GOt the first mail regarding my accounts "banned" pending investigation, but other than that not a wort till the day they got re-opened again.

In their defence i must say that they did reimburse all that was not sold, and think even got a 30day free, but just a little bit more info while it all was going on wouldn't have hurt.

Some may say it was me beeing stupid for allowing a k-logger to get my pasw, and i agree, but we are not all internet-wizzards.

If you're dumb sure, NEVER had any of my accounts hacked for anything EVER

I own a grand total of zero authenticators, its called common sense, don't install random crap and don't use the same username/pass combo on any other site, pretty straight forward without the need for CCP to spend money producing and selling devices to give you a another layer to deal with ;)

As others have stated, CCP does take this seriously and will respond in due time and you will at the very least get your character back. As for your stuff...well I've heard some get it back and some don't.

Sucks to be a victim of this and I hope it works out for you.

As for all the narrow minded morons that can't seem to focus past this game screaming ," KEYLOGGER , KEYLOGGER. RUN FOR THE HILLS!", get a life you idiots. Anyone who puts a keylogger on your computer will be a little too busy emptying your bank acct and stealing your identity to be concerned with grabbing some pixels from a game that has one of the smallest player bases of any MMO.

Do you people even bother to think?
