More funny will be if there is NOTHING at end!!!

When it reaches zero it will be replaced with a message saying that CCP is sorry for getting everyone excited, but the announcement they were planning to make is not yet ready, but will be ready for release Soon (tm).

Already in the works, and SISI will be stuffed with it...

My 2 cents...

Interesting theory, from the link;

"The universe data contains, for example: the positions for all systems, planets, gates, asteroid belts and the asteroids in these belts... (the new system) gives us much more flexibility for changing game data."

"The current plan is to deploy this in early February"

So the question is, why do they need more flexibility with the positioning of celestial items ?

Because maybe they finally intend for planets and moons to rotate and orbit?

I don't know why there would be tears, as it would increase the number of really good safe spots. Once the planet moves away from your fixed point BM, you eventually get out of dscan range. It would also be great for creating new safes and mids.

If gates move around though, that would not be so cool.

edit: there's also the time factor. at AU distances, relative motion will still be very slow (e.g. simulating neptune's orbit). unless they speed things up...

I think the stations are anchored, if I recall properly, around moons or planets. "Jita 4-4" refers to where the station is docked, as an example.

If the planets begin to orbit, and hence the moons go with them as well (we could hope - I mean - try explaining that: moons always stay in orbit of the planet unless something bad happens) the stations anchored will move too.

This is the end of emergency warp off BMs, for one thing. But in terms of predator and prey, a staple of this game, I don't see either side in that relationship getting an advantage over the other. Emergency warp off BMs would become useless if they are more than say a few hours old. But then bubbles emplaced around station camps would also have to be moved constantly. Bubble camps around gates intended to trap or control traffic between gates and anchored assets would also go out of effective angle over time. It would certainly mix things up.

It counts down the time left before the fusion of EVE and DUST forums. Shocked

I was just informed of what the clock was by my insider at CCP.

It is counting down to when this year's FanFest details will be announced.

What I have been told by my insider, CCP is doing something they have not done before.

I know what it is, but have sworn not to tell or my insider would not give me any other info ever.

my hopeful guess is "Project 2" which is hopefully EVA.

But its probably going to be EVE Gate Star becoming visible from anywhere in space.

Why would they? It's trivial to calculate it's position in space on the fly. CCP has all the data necessary to change the absolute coordinates into relative ones and that calculation could be easily done on the client too. No?

On grid coordinates could do this, but any bookmarks off grid would end up static in system and become useless.
