Damage Control is a weird module, I love it to near death, really I DO ! Cool

It saved my ship plenty of time from either npc's (yes was drinking) ganks (yes was semi afk) or pvp (that little extra hull hp hah)

However now that CCP wants to Overheat active modules and maybe add more dev time into Immersion in the game,

it is time to think about what to do with our beloved damage control modules.

This is a long term view I have with many other about how we fly our ships, do we just plug in a pod and solo pilot a Titan,
Or does a titan actually have some staff at hand to help out in piloting such a large vessel

I propose we should have ship crews to influence the stats that dcu's (suitcases) have had for a long time.

And that ship crews can "level up" through playing the game to the equivalent of tech 2 damage control module.

Either through pve content up to a max say level 3 and through pvp up to a maximum say level 5 (t2 dcu stats)

The ship crew will initially be just numbers ofc, no interacting ambulation (WiS) style onboard the ship.

This will also make it possible to trade ship crews on the market and get level 0 from npc stations, maybe lvl1 with loyalty points ?

PS: I loved Master of Orion 2 because not only of the 4x it had but of the crew's experience levels, Warlord race bonus ftw Cool

CCP is flying a stealth bomber, with a capsuleer flying it (Mr G Cool) CCP Mimic said; so why are we all cramped in to a one SB ?

Minimum Crew (Capsuleer) in frigate 1-3 (correctly displayed hehe) and a max of 10 – 40.

Yep, with a Stat. Avg. Survivor Rate < 5% no wonder Mimic says: How do I get out of this chicken sh!t outfitBig smile

Anyways, it won't be easy to figure out how to replace DCU's with ship crews, especially when it involves the crew number stats.

But we still should move forward to finally have ship crews in the game for also immersion not on some out of game website.

You could think about a low slot Life Support module that can be scripted with ship crew Cool

Every ship class can only fit a specific script crew, the Life Support Module can also come in varieties to allow different ship crew levels.

So you fly a hound, and want the best ship crew for pvp;
Buy a tech 2 life support module from the market to fit a max ship crew level 5, and script it with an elite frigate crew

If you opt not to buy a Life Support module to use the low slot for something else your hull won't get any resistance bonuses, because there is no damage control party

no, I think this is a bad idea. The whole eve concept of Pod Pilots and immortals is that we are able to live beyond death with clones and the pod is the center of control for these ships in which the pilot sits and controls every thing. To add crews to the ship would only take a unique idea that is eve and make it a wanna be star trek.

plus the game has so many different mechanic system in it already that the learning cure is one of the most high for an MMO out there, lets not add more on top of that and make it even harder to get more players.

I'm pretty new to the EVE universe and therefore don't fully understand the canon, but if everything in the evelopedia is in fact canon, then our ships should have crews in keeping with such canon. However I can see why they have omitted that, giving how complex the game already is (though this probably should've been in the game from the beginning). I agree though that if done properly it would add deeper immersion and strategy to the way we fly and maybe even buy ships, probably even a needed change but I doubt many veteran players would go for that. Ultimately I think its too late to add ship crews but they probably should've been there from the start.
