I have 2 pc's running 2*21 and 22 inch portrait or landscape monitors. With EvE in windows mode and the screens turned to portrait I can effectivly run 8 clients from seperate folders.

I actually have a Tv somewhere which has a xbox connected to it Big smile

Quoting "you will die" in EvE is fail Chars dont die in EvE. Unless you have a heart attack eek.

Will be running eve on both soon. Currently my monitor, and in a few weeks I'll get my new 55" TV,
to which I'll be able to stream via wireless HDMI, so I can relocate to my couch with my wireless mouse,
keyboard and headset. It will be glorious.

Hey,

Just curious, anyone here play eve on a TV instead of a computer screen?

I just got flamed for 'showing off' because of my rig.

Truth is, instead of buying 2x Computer Screen I decided to go with one 55" + 2x 30" flat TV. Bottom line it costed me only 100$ more.

I got great framerate, flat screen now have 'computer mode" you can activate, zero lag, Eve is just incredibly immersive and gorgeous on such a setup. Actually, any game is.

So I was curious, people spent hundreds of dollars in plex, thousand in rig and video card. What screen you plug on such computer?

Q: How many of you DO play on a TV screen?

I use the laptopscreen unless there is something big going on like the fight last monday , then i switch to my new big tv screen because you don't need a fast response time thanks to tidi then and it looks SO much better.

That kinda requires a basement or a fully darkened room, not really the best idea.

Actually did do that a few times but it's just prettier on a nice bigscreen or even a 17" laptop then using the beamer. At a certain point it can get 'too big' Blink

I use proper high resolution displays for EVE but I know some people that use TVs like you do. I can't handle 1080p resolution, since I run at 2x that number on the least capable of my displays.

To each their own.

Which one do you use then? The decent 1080p+ LED projectors are $2000+.

Yes 1080P sucks. I'm running multiple 30 Inch Monitors at 2560 x 1600. EVE looks spectacular. Gonna go 4K but I want to wait until there is a good monitor with only 1 panel. The new ASUS is very nice but has 2 panels side by side. They "say" that doesn't make a difference but for $3500 bucks I wanna be sure...

Usually computer screen, sometimes I use a projector when I want to look at nebulas, but it's not very convenient during longer sessions.

True that, I think a lot of people don't realized many TV screen have surpassed Computer Screen in terms of resolution.

I honestly don't see why I would go back to a computer screen. I tested the 2560 x 1600 on a 30" and it was insane. Blast off even my Apple Cinema Display. Looking forward to see my rig upgraded with 2x 30" @ 2560 x 1600 and adding a 55" @ 4k resolution - 3840 x 2160 or even 5120 x 3200. At that stage, I am afraid the bottleneck will be the video card. (And of course the budget, but wait 2 years and they going to be at 600$)

With the new 'pc mode' features on most tv, there is zero lag. Computer Screen and TV Screen market will clearly merged.

Only thing I can image for the computer screen market is the curved shape 180 degrees screen that is not interesting for a TV, or the office market that required high end calibration. (After Effect, InDesign, Maya, that kind of stuff)

EDIT: BTW, Youtube and Vimeo announced they will support 4096 x 3072 (12.6 megapixel) streaming. Canada will implode with the bandwith quota monopoly....

(Presuming we are excluding 4k.)

I don't think so, a 55" TV provides the same constrained image as a 30" TV which allows a much worse image than a 30" monitor, it is chalk and cheese.
Relatively small monitors keep up with TV's with ease. If your going to sit close to the screen then it makes a big difference, a 1080 HD TV spreads the pixels too thinly for there to be any gain in sitting near it - you would effectively see a lot of empty space. Sitting further away the TV comes into its own as the density of the pixels in a monitor is too high for the detail to be seen from a distance. The DPI and the distance you sit from the screen should be a clever ratio that deserves to be in this thread somewhere.

The pic of the op's log in screen is useful for comparison, a 30" monitor (2560x1600) give a 2" gap between the moon and the left of the character selection box (similar difference to top and bottom) over the large TV (1920x1080?). Not a massive difference (clearly the monitor is showing a bigger picture than the TV) but just as you can see far more of the log in screen you don't have issues like the market window blocking out the sun etc. The smaller TV's shown (720?) are of such low resolution that a 30" monitor could replace them both without altering the amount of information displayed. Assuming you were sitting close of course, if you're walking around the room etc. then the TV set up would be easier to keep an eye on.

I am but a nub and only use a 23 and 21 inch monitor, I think. Not 100% sure on the metrics.
