AMD GPU 100% heat build up

Hey,

So since the Rubicon 1.1 update I've been having some issues with my GPU and running the clients.

As well as the random CTD at gates while running the dx11 client issue that I'm aware CCP are looking into ( I'm now running dx9 client) I also have a strange 100% GPU usage issue since the 1.1 update.

I run 3 clients usually and it usually runs them fine.
However the past few days it seems my GPU randomly starts running at 100% when I play eve for no apparent reason, even when running 1 client.

It doesn't seem to be in connection with anything, in space mining, in station, or running a mission it seems to happen randomly.

Normal usage for 3 clients is only around 70% on this card even in battles.
I normally have all 3 clients set to maximum GFX fidelity apart from AA which is turned to low and have Interval set to "Interval one"

My rig isn't high end by any means, its an intel i5 760 @4ghz, 8gb ram and an AMD 3gb 7970 GPU card.

I have no other software running that could affect GPU usage, so I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem lately?

The random 100% usage is setting my GPU temps rocketing to around 90c.

I am aware this may be a GPU problem, but I would like any feedback to help eliminate potential culprits, as I may have to RMA the card.

Regards.

It's a known problem. Try reading the thread immediately below yours right now.

Ahh ok,
Thanks I thought my card was on its way out. Roll

*edit* so after reading the thread there are no other mentions of heat build up or GPU throttling, all I can guesstimate at this point is the driver is crashing and causing the game to use 100% GPU (possibly crashing the v-sync) though the games monitor shows fps capped at 60fps, when interval immediate is set that also causes GPU usage to hit 100% but shows it as using some 320+fps.

if ur card is not at 100% usage its not doing its job anyhow.. 100% is what people strive for in a game so they know all resources are being used on the card to better gameplay/framerates.

how many times u been in a game and its fluctuating 50-100% all over the place, this is a ****** driver problem for the most part.

In most games I agree 100% usage is preferred but I don't think eve has enough resources to make a fairly high end card work that hard.
With 2 clients running on 2 1920x1080 monitors at Max in game settings apart from AA which is set low my usage is usually around 30-40%, my CPU is even less while running both clients, sometimes hitting 60% or so in battles.

When interval immediate is selected in the client then the GPU is used 100% and around 320fps are generated, but it seems eve has some bug where it will feed the GPU as much data as it can gorge itself on and the GPU will do its best to cook itself.

Other games use the CPU at 100% such as battlefield4 but they don't make the GPU heat up like eve does.

Yes I agree its a driver issue, I'm using the beta drivers ATM as the standard drivers cause the game to constantly crash even in dx9 mode due to the rescent bug people are getting, it seems the downside is this odd behaviour as if the v-sync is crashing as the driver is trying to reload and emulating the state which occurs when interval immediate is set in game (100% GPU usage, heat build up)

I've played some BF4 and the GPU is hitting 100% but temps are around 75c and the fan at approx 60%.
