in reality, a change in policy would only estrange the established player base (you know, the one that is creating free advertisement by losing $300.000 in titans once in a while).

Losing that many titans has only happened once in 10 years, it was one fight where more titans have been lost than have previously been lost in the history of the game. It is not the kind of fight that happens "once in a while".

The players that lost the titans would not be estranged by a change in policy on the forums or even in game about "hazing" or otherwise harassing other players: they're not the ones engaging in forum warrioring or newb ganking.

People should be free to say whatever they want. Censoring a player's opinion, even if its negative is going to end up causing a lot more problems than it was ever meant to solve.

Free speech is important for the long term health of any open society, even one as (relatively) small as EvE and if it gags players from communicating freely then it deserves to die.

I find all your passive-aggression, sarcasm and false implying, very distasteful.

In short?

Quote:
5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

12. Spamming is prohibited.

Spam is defined as the repetitive posting of the same topic or nonsensical post that has no substance and is often designed to annoy other forum users. This can include the words “first”, “go back to [insert other game name]” and other such posts that contribute no value to forum discussion. Spamming also includes the posting of ASCII art within a forum post.

22. Post constructively.

Negative feedback can be very useful to further improve EVE Online provided that it is presented in a civil and factual manner. All users are encouraged to honestly express their feelings regarding EVE Online and how it can be improved. Posts that are non-constructive, insulting or in breach of the rules will be deleted regardless of how valid the ideas behind them may be. Users are also reminded that posting with a lack of content also constitutes non-constructive posting.

They do not.

In reality? We ISD CCL are the ones who do most of the enforcement around these parts, and we cannot actually see all threads at the same time. If you happen to find something you think breaks forum rules, or needs a looking at, please report it with the small flag button at the top of the post.

Also, this thread is inappropriate for NC Q&A:

11. Discussion of forum moderation is prohibited.

The discussion of EVE Online forum moderation actions generally leads to flaming, trolling and baiting of our ISD CCL moderators. As such, this type of discussion is strictly prohibited under the forum rules. If you have questions regarding the actions of a moderator, please file a petition under the Community & Forums Category.

26. Off-topic posting is prohibited.

Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued.

So, thread locked.
