We all know how important isd's are ... I would like to propose

A yearly competition

5 isd's get payed vacation to fanfest all inclusive


How to win

The 5 isd's with longest time logged into rookie / help per year


My reasoning

Isd's get very little praise and take quite a bit of abuse

Isd's keep help from turning into jita chat

Would encourage more isd's to log in

Isd's give their time , while their player accounts keep ticking over


How would ccp pay for this

It's my understanding $5.oo from every plex is for new sign ups and as a lot of plex is used to raise capital and sub accounts , it would seem fair to return some of this money to the player community .

Small point of note: you're referring to a particular segment of ISD, ISD STAR (Support Training And Resources). "ISD" as a term refers to all volunteers together. Some of us do not get to handle the help channels, and instead spend time moderating the forums (ISD CCL, like myself), or maintaining the wiki (ISD YARR). You can find more info about all of us here: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Volunteer_Program

Rest assured, there are perks and tokens of appreciation for ISD, so I'm not sure that a full trip to Fanfest is at all warranted.

That said, ISD STAR do a great job, and they deserve lots of thanks.

How about we reward ISDs for actually banning trolls from the forum?

In it's current state very little proper discussion happens about the game. Just 2 sides bickering at eachother, throwing out sarcastic insulting 1 liners to make themselves seem cool to the rest of the community. EVE-O forums are considered the "cesspool" of the EVE community. ISDs can change that by enforcing the anti-trolling, anti-griefing, anti-disrespect policies that exist.

But they don't. Hence why half the trolls here still have posting rights 1000 trolls later. Lol

I love ISD too for all they do, but let's not ask CCP to dig into their pockets. Instead, a donation drive sounds good to me. Let's have the community reward ISD with additional funds ear marked for them.

To avoid any perceptions of a conflict of interest, I ask that I be excluded from any consideration for such a prize if/when I am accepted into the ISD ranks.

In all seriousness, when I read this thread topic, I came running simply because I believed that there would be wedding bells for you, as one of our GD citizens were going to propose...

Ill leave now, although I will be disappointed in not having wedding cake.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Also, "especially problematic" doesn't mean "likes to sometimes joke around, be annoying, or step on toes". It means large volumes of rulebreaking, toxic behavior, repeated confrontations, breaking one of the big rules (e.g. abuse of CCP), or other similar "no-no"s. While we do have to enforce the forum rules to the letter via edits and locks, it's both impractical and mean to have the CCP Community Team constantly hounding down people for horsing around. It would fill everyone's inboxes and a bad time would be had by all.

Anyway, speaking of rules, we're going off topic here. Perhaps a discussion of this sort would be better suited for another thread or something. Transparency is good, and some more/better communication would probably fix a lot of misunderstandings and enmity.

I copped a ban from an ISD once. A dev unbanned me about 20 minutes later, but rest assured, ISDs did, at one stage at least, have the power to ban.

There are nice and helpful people in ISD CCL*). Of course there are also some that are, well, less nice...... Evil

I have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them. As always I let some edge cases stay.
Please people, keep it on topic and above all civil!

The rules:

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

You could for every intent and purposes already be a member of one of the ISD teams. Nobody would know, except for some people at CCP on a need to know basis. Like Internal Affairs, who make sure we do not benefit from our ISD work on our player accounts. And rightfully so I might add.

I think ISDs should get "something" for their effort. What I don't know. But they do step up to babysit around here and that's got to be worth something.
