Just a thought....
Would be nice to see Mercs advertise with testimonies from reputable third parties( like Chribba for example). Chribba would make isk.... Merc would make isk and have fun....I would feel better about who I'm hiring......cheating mercs would lose out

Just a thought from someone who doesnt know any mercs but will probably hire some in the future

how would a 3rd party such as chribba etc be able to endorse such a thing?

alliances change daily as do politics. unless 3rd partys had daily knowladge which will only ever happen in very select cases then the whole idea is completley flawed.

no one in there right mind would stake their reputation in that way.

best thing to do is look at previous employers testemonials and word of mouth.

P.S bryan lurrrrrrrvea da poop and chribba endorses it ;)

Typically people who are happy (or not) with a particular band of mercs services will bump their advertisements saying something about their experience.

You can also ask around in the Merc Contracts channel, as some groups are more specialised to certain scenarios than others. The channel has guidelines set for each group in order for them to be represented in the channel, and the MOTD contains contact details for well established and reliable groups.

At the very least go there and get a second opinion, whoever you are looking at hiring.

The problem is mercenary groups that are terrible regularly bump their recruitment threads with "satisfied" customers (read: alts). There is no real way to prove that the person is a legitimate customer without divulging your contractor, so it's pretty impossible. Of course, after the conclusion of the contract it is possible to have the contractor bump your thread and give specifics, but....well, it opens the door for retaliation, nd many of the people who hire mercenaries are carebears who want no combat.

In general, speak to the contract officers in 0rphanage or Noir. Both are highly respected members of the mercenary community, and they will usually steer you towards someone who fits your criteria (i.e., mission parameters, cost, etc.). Also, do your own research. The God Squad. is a highly publicized group of scammers and failures, and XENON-EMPIRE "mercenary" alliance is regularly thrashed on contract.

And that's just from reading these forums, and their killboards.

In short, do your own research, because if you're willing to hire mercenaries with your own ISK, you should make that ISK work for you. And if you don't do that small thing, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Chribba has actually allready dishonoured a mercenary contract... You would be better using another third party.

+1

No system's perfect, but this is the best place to start. Noir. and Ad0pt try to trim the list to agents that reflect well upon the group in general.
