If the fight last night went badly for goons I could see how they could care about highsec, but since the fight went well for them I don't see how they care.

At end it does matter. But the loss of huge coalitions with rental empires is mitigated among so manyy peopel that they are unable to cause any psycological pressure. Is like when a country raise taxes to buy more weapons that they lost in a war. Peoepl do not like taxes, but that does not affect their morale.

Back in the days where 0.0 dwellers payed their own capital ships form their own pockets and a dread was something EXPENSIVE, then the direct result of the battle would fall in the individuals, would not be spread and would cause serious discontent.

For losses to matter at coalition level, they would need to be large and constant enough to force them to " raise taxes" of the renters. But its unlikely any war in eve will ever take that long again.

For war to really matter without pushign someoen out of a territory there would need to be ifnrastructure easily disruptable on the renter alliances territories, that could be pressed to cause failure on that side. Because pressing on the fighting side of the coalitions will not have much results...

You make good points there, Kagura. What I'm wondering is if this situation is either a good or a bad thing...
The mythical blue donut, non aggression pacts, renters combined with some big fights from time to time could be considered an ideal situation game-wise. It allows for bittervets to stay subscribed and do stuff and newer entities to join in without the hassle of conquering their little corner of space. I think if the game evolved to easier sov changes and disruption of renters... the big powerblocs would just give up after a while. Again, I don't know if that would be a good thing or a bad thing either... your thoughts?
