You're not actually hearing any real sounds. Your pod is simulating all of the sounds for you.

It may be the OP was just trolling ( I salute you sir), but if you're looking for something more real, I believe NASA tried to make an mmo, I think its still on kickstarter. I do remember reading stuff about it ( why am I spending hours learning how to weld in a computer game, can't I just grind levels?) and as much of a mars nerd as I am, I have a feeling that the game would be just one long killjoy. They'll probably be more logically fantastic, trying to stick to realism, but it'll be spherical cows in a vacuum.

Re-enter eve: its a cardboard box model of space, filled with jello. The jello is partially mouldy, and full of rotten bits, part of it is trying to crawl out of the box and the dust under the box tries to make its way in... But its a model of space, and its full of rotten bits which add flavor( I didn't say its a nice flavor, but better than bland). Its not even pretending to be real, its a setting for space fantasy, where I happily lose myself.

Leave your science at the door please

Get some Eve. Make it yours.

I don't understand where people read "max speed" from the post, maybe because they did thought a lot about it themselves and my post stirred their past memory up.

The fact that you did not use the exact phrase "max speed" is not relevant. You're still making the same tired, silly post that dozens of others have made over the years that the rest of us who actually do 5 minutes of research and thinking are tired of seeing.

I would like to register my complaint that a UV laser is shorter ranged than an infra red laser, and an X ray laser is even shorter.

IRL its the opposite, the higher the wavelength, the less you lose focus due to diffraction, and the longer the range you can keep the beam acceptably focused.

So... swap the numbers, and gameplay is unaffected....

Unlike all that crap the OP presents (it seems he's never heard of a reaction wheel, he should really play some KSP and read atomic rockets)

I always find it fantastically enjoyable when someone whines about things not being realistic in some manner or another and then go on to demonstrate that they haven't the slightest grasp of how reality works anyways.

Everyone who posts this thread should just be banned from the forums forever.

Of all the terrible repeat threads on these forums over the years, nothing elicits a groan from me the way "herp derp my fictional interstellar spaceship doesn't fly like the space shuttle did plz fix" does.

Disclaimer: I didn't read the whole thread, nor do I need to. So forgive me if what I say has already been said, but for me, this should have been said on the second post.

EVE is an MMO game, not a space flight simulator. As much as some of us might love the more "proper" (mind the quotes) physics model and dream of it being implemented, the game was designed in a much different way.

The design of the game is:
* NOT based on wrong or lacking knowledge of physics
* NOT a mistake.

The game and its core mechanics are designed for a specific purpose in a specific way: thus inheriting specific limitations - all to accommodate CCP's vision of their game. First of all, the game needs to work for thousands of players. At once. Sure, different systems get separated servers, but you know how big the battles in EVE can be. The "physics" calculations in EVE are stripped to the required minimum to accommodate desired functions and mechanics and work without the unneeded load. There can be too much load already anyways.

So what that you can't keep accelerating beyond the actual 'max speed'. Or that 'bumping' works in a very specific way. Or that you can use FTL drives even though our understanding of physics have not produced any kind of prototype (don't quote me on that one).

The game might not be physically accurate, but this is how it was designed. And since it is intended design, it is not wrong.

TL;DR

The game mechanics are designed to accommodate specific functions and mechanics for the purposes of a MMO title, and not to reflect the "real-life" space physics, whatever they may be beyond our current understanding of it. Thus it is not 'wrong'.

If the OP was trolling, then I guess mission is done. If not, ignore this notation.

Congratulations, you entirely missed the point of this thread and Features/Ideas Discussion sub forum.
