Screen saver auto-minizing EVE client even in fullscreen mode..

Hi,

Got the issue as described in topic. When I play EVE, even tho my setting is "fullscreen", not "fixed window", the client will tab out whenever the screen saver timer kicks in.

This does not happen in other fullscreen applications or games, only in EVE. Is there another setting I might have missed that will correct this behaviour? Having my screensaver set on 2 mins, never an issue as I'm either a) active at PC, b) not active, c) running a fullscreen application. Now I can't even answer a phonecall or text message without the game tabbing me out and going screen saver.. extremely annoying. I shouldn't have to turn off the screensaver everytime I play EVE?

Running Windows 8 with the classic shell app. Recent install of EVE. And, like I said, the client is set at 'fullscreen' not 'fixed window'.
Thank you.

A screensaver will... By design override fullscreen. This is so that if a game is paused it doesnt "burn an exposure into your screen". If you want to stop your SS kicking in when answering a call or writing a text.... Extend the SS idle time

That is not the answer I'm looking for, and I know what a screensaver does. There's a reason I use one (and use such an extremely short timer as well).

I'm just wondering why EVE does not work like other fullscreen applications. World of Tanks doesn't tab me out and let the screensaver take over. Neither does Hearthstone, Diablo 3, World of Warcraft, World of Warplanes, Assassins Creed, either of my Steam games, etc. It is only EVE online that tabs out of the client to go to the screensaver.

To keep my sanity I have to resort to put a longer screensaver timer while playing this game, which obviously has the flaw that then you have to remember to change the timer everytime you stop play too. If I was in a fleet fight and get tabbed out to screensaver everytime I had to wait for a FC to give instructions, every break, everytime i wait for drones to clean up in PvE, everytime I go to the bathroom, answer a phone, stir a pot while cooking etc.. it is quite gamebreaking.

There must be a way to disable this (or enable that EVE doesn't tab you out to screensaver). Every other fullscreen application I use works that way. Only EVE has this extremely annoying "feature". Not sure if CCPs idea with this is to annoy their customers as much as possible but right now, it's working quite well.

Let me emphazise btw that I have played this game for near a decade, but took a break of ~half a year. Just got back to the game, and this is the first time in ten years the client behaved this way and I had this issue. It's something new that has been introduced and I really don't see what purpose it fill rather than to **** people off. Considering the fullscreen/fixed window setting is a recent addition that does effect how the client is perceieved, it feels reasonable to guess the issue I'm having is related to this. How do I fix it/turn off this tabbing-out issue?

This is actually a "recent" issue, I think. I remember, in the past, having had the client open, going off for a long time, then coming back, and not having the screen saver activate. And, since my screen saver is actually set to turn on in less time than it takes for a single miner cycle to finish, I have definitely noticed it happening.

Most games actually prevent the screen saver from running. The "screen burn" thing really isn't an issue any more, so many games won't let the thing start up at all.

In any case, something changed in a recent update, I think, and now Eve is allowing the system to see an idle state, and allow the screen saver.

Until its fixed... There is a little utility called NoSleep.exe out there. It was invented by someone that had two office machines, with non-changable lock-out settings, who got tired of having the bloody thing keep going into lock-out, while trying to do work on both of them, but never being on any one for a short enough time to stop the prior one from locking him out.

I don't remember where I got it from, but, all it does is cause a simulated random, one pixel, movement of the mouse, every second or so. you won't, with a modern high-res mouse, even "see" the motion, but its just enough to tell the system that you are doing something with the mouse, and therefor, it shouldn't nod off on you,

My only complaint about it is that you have to remember to close the utility, after, for things to go back to the way they are supposed to work, since there is no "on/off" option in it. There is another one, apparently, called "caffeine", which does more or less the same thing, but has an on/off function. This one can generate a keypress, or a mouse movement, depending on what you need.

But, yeah, I think they accidentally left something out/off in Eve, last update, which was meant to prevent this sort of interruption.
