Missioning with a planet surface background

Im not much of a forum rat to know if this has been sugested already but...
Wouldnt it be nice if some of the mission spots were right at the planets or moons close orbit?
I think it makes some sense and it would be very cool to do a mission like "Intercept the Saboteurs" right beside a Temperate Planet.
Now, I dont know the technical limitations for this (things like graphics hardware usage and stuff) but game mechanics wouldnt change much beyond the missioners having a very close warp spot...
Maybe some missions would need a rework... small things like removing some "scenery" that doesnt fit in a planet orbit.
I think I got this idea from one of the DUST514 videos.
What do you think?

thats a good idea. Adding the area around planets to potential mission locations would be cool however it should not happen to often otherwise ninjas would get to much work.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Indeed, the idea is for only certain missions to be located around planet orbits. And not restrict it just to planets but include moons as missioning spots also. This way those pesky ninja looters wont get 1000 sigs when scanning around a single celestial object.

Aesthetically, this would be awesome. The big problem is that mission runners would become incredibly easy to scan down.

I've often run missions in nullsec in a battleship (none of your unscannable Tengu nonsense for me, tyvm) with hostiles in system. It's quite viable as long as you keep your wits about you and watch D-Scan for combat probes. But if hostile probers knew they could just move their probes around in tight formation between the planets in a system, they'd could get a warp-in before the target even sees the probes on scan. That's just too easy for the probers.

Putting some missions around moons wouldn't make any difference. Moon orbits are all tight enough that they're covered by scan probes at the shortest ranges.

Meh… you just have to get lucky with the RNG and/or run missions in the right system.

Lets not forget this is not intended for every mission.
If we get to mission in planet orbit in 1 out of 10 missions it would be something awesome already.
Imo the probability of a challenge increase while missioning in hostile territory is just a little sacrifice for a great aesthetical benefit. Plus if you think its dangerous you can just reject that mission.

Putting missions spots in moons woudnt make a big difference while scanning indeed.
A ninja in a heavy missioning system will probe all the missioners from a planet and its satelite moons in the same scan...
BUT
it will make it easier for the prober to distinguish targets and target locations with a system map zoom in. Sigs wont be all stacked up in a single celestial object.
On the other hand he will have the increased trouble of filtering out ships at stations and POS.

i like this
some missions anyway lore wise should be flagged as taking place around celestials, while others are in hidden deadspace depots

increased risk can also come with a tad increase mission reward, but like OP said, the aesthetic benefit is cool enough imo. besides adding a little extra risk to mission runners isn't the end of the world, that's why they have the 'decline' mission option.

Post-Crucible launch bump.
Still drooling over the graphical improvements.

+1 for this. Missions spawn at random locations in space that aren't as a rule, more difficult or obvious to scan out than any other place. To make it so that encounter-type missions (deadspace should still be out in the middle of nowhere) sometimes spawn within visual range of a planet or moon really doesn't affect the hunting-for-missioners mechanic and gives the occasional opportunity to see more pretty backdrops. It's a shame that we don't see more of the planets.

a good idea, would love having PvE spots near planets.

Big answer... timeout... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Short answer: you can't anchor POS outside a certain area. Fun idea though... best fit for afk missioning ever. lol.
Planets and moons radius are big enough for a lot (yes, a lot really) of missioning spots.
