Why can't Capitals be more like FTL ship

So, on my way to work, I started playing FTL on my netbook. Then it occurred to me. What if capital ships allowed for multiple pods to be connected, and the skills of each individual pod affect the skills of the ship, pretty much how Fleet bonuses work: Highest bonus wins.

That way, for example, on a Titan, you could have 1 pod with maxed out gunnery, while another with maxed out tank, while another with maxed out navigation, so ona nd so forth, and each of those maxed out atributes would stack to make the mystical All V ship.

So basically isn't it great that you can play other games that are different?

1. Wrong section of the forum.

2. No.

When Bon Scott died and he appeared before St. Peter at the gates of Heaven, St. Peter looked at his record and told him he couldn't get in. Just then, God screams at Peter, "Let him in, Karen Carpenter is driving me nuts. I want to hear some music with balls. We'll haggle over the paperwork later." At least I hope that's what happened.

But then, how can you play how low can you go?

This is as nice as I get. Best quote ever https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4137165#post4137165

Really good idea! Sounds like the next logical step in the progression of the game. Its rare to find a suggestion that makes good sense both in terms of lore and gameplay!

Doesn't OP pretty much describe the Strategic Cruiser?

I just undocked for the first time and someone challenged me to a duel. Wat do?

I like the idea but instead of being more like FTL, it should be more like Power Rangers at the part where the 5 dreads combine into the huge robot or titan.

In a long forgotten thread people were talking about "Hive Ships" that performed in the manner your describe OP.

Then a DEV popped in and explained that the server code does not like more than one player in any one ship at the same time (something about "core architecture" having a seizure and committing suicide).

On the off-chance that the DEVs find a way around this (fat chance, they can't even create a "character switch" screen because the original code is designed in such a way that it is actually impossible (read the CSM minutes for more info)) I don't think many capital pilots would like the idea.
I personally would NEVER allow other people to control different aspects of my multi-billion ISK ship... and if I was forced to rely on them I'd get alts to perform the same task.

But the whole philosophy of EvE seems to be that the risk of cooperation brings great rewards so this idea would just be a further extension of that.

Of course the fact the CCP appear to be technically incapable of implementing it makes the discussion kinda pointless... :(

Guise,

how about titans have a weak spot like the death star, don't disappear after log off and the Valkyrie sparrows (as opposed to dust bunnies, get it?) can hit them. Your only defense is a Valkyrie corp you have to hire.

What'cha think guise?

/s

All jokes aside, FTL is fun, but very few concepts are portable to EVE.

Because ship crews are a thing that's unheard of. Funny enogh, the lore mentions certain carriers undocking more pilots in frigates and the like, but you don't see that either do you?

I don't think a single other FTL concept is portable to Eve. The way I would implement it, to ensure it's not a multiboxable or AFK feature, would be to make it like (yes, i know) a minigame of sorts. For example, gunners would have to time reloads or power managemet to the gun modules. Tank personel would need to make "manual" repairs on random sections of the ship as damage accumulates, and thus getting a small repp ammount boost on the cycle that the minigame is completed.

It's just a wild idea playing with the lore of the game, and a concept us could possibly take a part on.

lol, I wasnt being sarcastic!! I really do agree with you and like your idea! Sheesh ppl are so defensive! Ugh

Problem is it seems CCP don't have the skill to make it happen anyway. :(

Fleet assemble!

Titans were originally supposed to have 2 pilots but then ccp found it didn't really work so they never did. Or so I have heard/read somewhere i can't recall or be bothered to look for.

They're already working on it. In Rubicon 1.1 it takes three CCP employees to fly a single stealth bomber.
