So, I hear that cloaked ships no longer decloak each other.

They did say they were going to fix/look at this. It's a good change and back I believe to how it was some time ago.

This change is indeed intended. The other cloaking rules are unchanged and still apply.

Cue epic precision bombing runs... Twisted

(The (unintended?) side effect being that if you have a group of cloaked bombers, one can crawl into a position, everyone else warps to him at 0m under cloak, everyone aligns to target and once everyone is ready and in position, leader uncloaks, revealing everyone -> bombs away -> GTFO - no more need to do squad warp dives if the target is not mobile, can do precision positioning before delivering the gifts)

in a laggy situation "leader uncloaks -> revealing everyone" may not be the best idea. perhaps a decloaking ship should have a delay on decloaking others in its "decloak radius" - 5-15sec maybe?

just a tought...

In 0.0 PVP this will make bombing very epic, more effective and annoying. Most skill in fleet bombing runs was required to place your bombers at least one time on the the grid before you could run an effectiv bomb run.

It takes time and the target you intend to bomb may use this time to spread up and so won't lose their fleetblobb (up to 255 Ships...) to 24 few months skilled bomberpilots.

Think about it CCP.

Do it for all Cloakyships, but not Bombers.

Edit: make ships bombers visible for other bombers in their fleet so they do't get to close and still require a little skill to fly. But not this way Shocked

Er, working as intended. Bombers are supposed to be capable of wiping out entire fleets. That's exactly their purpose.

I do like the idea of cloaked ships appearing on fleet members' overviews, but the change to decloaking mechanics should stay.

So if a pack of cloaked bombers sit together and 1 of them uncloak will it then decloak everybody else? Big smile
Is this a phenomena only appearing when in fleet? or can you no longer get the surprise of having your cloaker uncloak the other ship because you know it happens and it is epic fun when it does hehe

yes, you can fleet warp stealth bombers, BUT after decloaking and launching bombs, they won't be able to activate cloak ...

Seems like a cheated feature.
Bomber fleet needs until now somme good coordination, and a "common fleet experience" wich is in favor of "training" and cooperation. With that feature, you'll only need a good FC and prober + some 2 months-skiled grunts who don't need to understand how to place their ship.

I think this change will be a good one.

It really adds a very tangible benefit of running with a battleship fleet over a smaller, faster BC fleet.

For anyone that didn't know:

This used to be the norm, it was changed about two and a half years ago (roughly) and was reported as a bug. We were at that time told that this would be fixed as soon as possible (about two and a half years later, roughly).


That Said:

I hate this fix personally, because the alliance I'm in is VERY good at managing bombers without this added ability. Takes a bit of the "we're special" away. Although I'd rather do it the old way with individual bomb spots anyways, that way one tard doesn't decloak everyone on accident and it's more intimidating when your bomber fleet decloaks all over the damn place.

But on a larger scale I think this is good for the game. Will discourage blobs from forming "ULTIMATEWINDEATHCLUSTERS" since bomber usage is likely to scale considerably after this goes live.
