Status/Task: Idea Gathering Data, pre-release

Ingame Channel Blink: PvEve.com

Attention tl;dr version
Making a Eve PvE dedicated website, check it out over here.

Hello fellow capsuleers. My name is Th3 Ladyship and for sometime now I have wanted to undergo a massive re-imagining of the already great and helpful websites such as mission and plexing website eve survival, amongst others.

Whilst I love the work that goes on in these websites, and admire the difficulty of keeping it up to date, I have decided to try my hand at it.

Question So, who am I?
A player who is deeply in love with the PvE aspects of Eve-online and I love well presented, organised data even more! In real life, my profession and life passion is coding in the website development business. Ranging from e-commerce to blog sites, I find myself in a unique position to marry my two life passions, Video games (more importantly, Eve Online) and web development.

Question What are PvEve's goals?
The "brief", if it to be called as such, is to provide the end user with detailed, ACCURATE and well presented information regarding missions, level 1 through 5, worm holes, c1 through c6, complexes of all varieties and anomalies (are they included in complexes?).

Question So, when can you use it?
Well soon enough I'll iron out a design for the website that promotes clear presentation of accurate and integral data on all the areas of PvE. After that the timeline of development is largely based on the rate of information gathering I do, and thats where you come in.

Question Like it? Run missions and/or plexes and/or Wormholes? Read this
I am going to require a large collection of data. For this I undoubtedly need a hand. If you have ACCURATE details on any missions you run, plexes and wormholed then feel free to either evemail me on this character or e-mail me here (submit@pveve.com).

The data needn't be SUPER detailed (bounties, names) all I want is a rough idea. Preferably:
  • The name of what you did
  • The level you did it
  • The ship you used
  • The damage type to use
  • The resists you had against the damage types
  • A number of ships would also be awesome (eg. 7x battleships, it doesnt need to be any more than that).

  • If you don't fancy sending in any information, that's all good also. [b]Stay tuned to this thread for updates

A good first step would be copy all the info from Eve Survival and Churker's site. There's too much stuff to start from scratch, lol.

I did consider this, but then where is the integrity? My longing for 100% accurate data has stopped me copypastaring and I would end up doing the same amount of work anyway (a la noting down the missions i do)

Because the missions are still basically the same. They just need to be updated.

If you notice in Eve-Survival mission report down at the bottom of the page is a 'Comments' link. If you click that you'll get a good idea how the mission should be updated.

If you copy and paste the info , just place a tag on the mission page - 'Need update' - and after someone updates it with correct info, remove the tag. Now the page is different and you can still maintain your 'Integrity' .

    EDIT:

Hmmmm, guess you decided to start the site and forgot to check your other thread. Anyway, good luck to you.

reference them then, there are seriously too many mission reports to start from scratch

Oh, I probably will do. But like i said, it'll be a starting place to them refine down.

And in terms of the other thread, talking about whether or not the exploration and anomalies should be stored on the site, I really dont see why they wouldnt be.

It might not be "FUN" but in all honesty its not really the point. Knowing the tactics before you take on a mission doesnt take out the fact that you have to execute it correctly.

Either way, I can see this being derailed, can we please try and either keep it on discussing the website or suggestions and/or features for it instead of discussing the validity of such a place to store the data?

    Thanks :3

Still looking for more information submitters! The support I have recieved so far has been amaxing but as stated, it is a colossal task and were chipping away at the block that is PvEve.

Come join the ingame channel "PvEve.com" and hang with some PvE-ers.

I'm not sure if you've considered this already Ladyship, but you may want to head out to some mission hubs and send some letters to pilots in the area. The forums are only a section of the community, and like-wise mission runners. You might get more success if you reach out to a larger audience.

These kind of resources make EVE PVE easier, more predictable and less interesting to run; moreover in order to be competitive in isk making activities we have to refer to such sites.

I'd love a completely unpredictable PVE in EVE, it would make sense, why all those NPC are so stupid and never change their setup to surprise the enemy? Is EVE dystopia similar to that one of Idiocracy?

But anyway interacting and chatting with others is good.

Well even if there wasn't any guides L4's would still be very predictable and pretty easy to figure out, most people would probably write little guides in notepad or something.

Given the paucity of information on the nullsec exploration complexes, their escalations, etc, this is definitely an area you can do good work in.

Great idea, I'll get on that later on, however Im based in Gallente mission hubs, would be awesome if I could have some volunteers promote submitting info to me.

MIGHT even run some sort of competition for the most in depth submission or the top 3 or somethink like that, so stay tuned for incentives.

Thanks. Just as an update, I have the databases setup and the site will probably be going "LIVE" in a week or so (maybe not this coming weekend, but the one after). I say "LIVE" because it is still in need of much of the mission/plex/wormhole/everything data. Still, getting the working "beta" out might help spur on people to submit some data (and give them a platform other than evemails/mails to do so).

Thanks for the continued support all!

Also, as a side idea, im thinking of including some ship fits for missions and a rating system out of 10, or a color code, for how likely you are to lose your ship (not neccessarily the length or size of mission, but the more complex and tricky)
