Ignore the others. Get a stack of GankCats, and go blap a few miners. I guarantee there will be some conversation. Mostly angry conversation, but sometimes those convos morph into actual real convos.
Made a few friends that way. Had a few laughs, too.

In W-Space, even friendly convos start with a bomb-to-the-face.

Sometimes I will tune in to Eve Radio and join the in-game channel.

The people are fun. They're always chatty.

Sometimes the DJs have special events like mass mining ops or 1v1 PvP duels in Jita.

If you're not looking for anything in particular but just want some people to chat with, you might enjoy that.

Maybe you should try flying somewhere other than hisec if you want PvP.

Question to everyone who posted before me in this thread: do you even lift?

While you are happily talking in local chat, someone is scanning you down, gathering intel on you, and planning dirty deeds done dirt cheap. Silence is golden in local chat.

Some people are not intellectually stimulating enough to converse with. Try being more thought provoking.

I ask them how they are they tell me I am mining in violation of their code and that I need to pay them 10 mill, which seems kind of steep for a paltry bit of veldspar.

It's because you're doing some kind of wierd roleplaying crap.

There is no such thing as flirting in eve, nobody gives a damn about your arse or your characters. Most people in local probably think you're a 13 year old wierdo because you talk like one.

*Snip* Please refrain from personal attacks and discussing forum moderation.. ISD Ezwal

Talking in local is a good thing. It helps to meet people. Only carebears and morons ignore something so powerful as local chat. If people choose to participate in conversations of their own intellectual level and wonder why there are only crappy convos in local going on, then that's their fault alone. A monkey who reads a book will not magically turn into the next Einstein. And besides that...... being a contrast is always better than doing the same **** like the majority of people.

Roleplaying can be fun and/or helps finding and screwing with victims. Don't let them tell you otherwise. People around here are just haters and negative. You will hardly find any proper advise in this forum that's not heavily opinionated and narrow minded.

Tbh, the best advise you can get is to avoid General Discussions at all cost and rather talk to people who actually understand what they are talking about. There are other parts of the forums for proper information gathering. This one isn't one of them.

I'll see you around. :)

You should try doing missions in Apanake. We are very talkitive there and will keep you entertained also you can keep tabs on who is losing MTU's and blinged out missioning ships. P

This ^.

But if You do missions, you will hardly find time to chat. Unless you fly Rattlesnake ;)

What is important is 180 - 200 players online and some of them do talk. Trade hubs like Dodixie are full of spam, in Apanake we talk normal, when we are not on missions. And since Apanake is very much mission oriented, there are seldom mining ships out. You can get plenty of kernit to sell it very high on next door system. Sheroo. Also lovely place to chat with people.

You just lured every single spammer from Jita to Apanake.

Edit: fixed actual quoting. ISD Ezwal.

I just undocked for the first time and someone challenged me to a duel. Wat do?

You assume that the spamers will want to move the 17 jumps requred to do such a thing. Also people in Apanake probably won't fall for ISK Doubling scams like they do in Jita.

Thanks for the information regarding chatty systems. I can add Osmon and Hek to the list. The former is sometimes filled with russian speaking people, the latter more active during the US prime time. Arnon is another place to find conversations, including the frequently popping up request for help killing Dagan... xD

Oh and Arnon has jetcan miners! Yes, they are still alive!
