Steam is pretty much malware in that it can interfere with the normal functioning of your computer, they have an annoying anti-cheat system residing in your system permanantly using its resources, and they have the right to prevent you from playing any of the games which you purchased if your account is disabled for any reason they deem.

You could potentially lose access to all your games if they decided you did something wrong. They also have an EULA which basically says "we don't sell private information we collect" but also "we may change this EULA whenever we like".

I'd just pay to get have the character transferred if I was you. Not sure if you can do a buddy invite for an extra month to make up for some of the cost of the transfer...

What the ..... Little paranoia are we?

If you think I'm paranoid thinking companies sell your personal data, I refer you to the news item OfficeMax accidentally sent a family whose daughter was killed in a car accident a letter addressed to daughter killed in car accident

Yes you are paranoia........

You found that out now! How old are you 12?

How to move account off Steam:

1. Locate steam source
2. Determine a vacant steam-free area
3. Move account to said area
4. Party

I really don't understand why people love Steam so much.
I only have it because it was a cheap way to get Sins of a Solar Empire to play with my friends.

Maybe because of digital distribution? Because you can download a game only a seconds from its release date (no matter in what part of the world you live)? Because of its seasonal -75% discounts? etc etc....

Steam is just as bad as Origin. But just as people chastised MS for what they supposedly (but actually didn't) do being big brother and all that, people are fine with it if Apple or Google does it for real.
