Lots of good replies above, and I just wanted to say congrats. Love reading about your experiences.

My kills are still far between (about 28% on the KB) but each one feels awesome.

kinda like that old adage.. "the rarer the fruit. the sweeter the flavor ?"
or some such philosophical-hullabaloo i don't quite understand and hate to spell . it feels good to "feel" a sense of progression i totally agree !

y'know.. the competitive side of me wants to look at those percentages. and do better too. maybe someday I might ?
but for now, blissfully and for however long i can hang on to it.. wins or losses.. i'll take em all, and ask for seconds ! P

I love encountering newbies with your attitude.

Have you mapped out a plan for what ships you want to use in the future? If you're having luck with the Tristan, I'd look into the Ishkur as a future goal.

I'm not a very good frigate pilot in general, but the Ishkur keeps the mobility of the Tristan, picks up a total of five drones, has better resists and can deal significant damage and project it at quite a long range. The drawback is a much higher hull cost (being a tech 2 ship) - something of the order 23-27m ISK last I looked.

In either the Tristan or the Ishkur, you will notice a huge, huge performance increase from training Drone Interfacing 3 or 4 (prerequisite: Drones 5) and tech 2 light drones. These are both significant training times for a newbie but aren't too bad.

There's also the Vexor, which I've been putting to use slaughtering miners in highsec suicide ganking, but also have quite a bit of experience with as a ship for going solo and hunting people in lowsec. It is the strongest tech 1 cruiser, and fitted will set you back under 30m.

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

Exactly this!

I love your attitude here. Basically I think dying a lot has had a good effect on me as well. I tend to YOLO into fun situations now and if I die, hey, it's just cost a grand total of a 10-minute plex. BFD.

Yesterday I warped in to an accel gate in a Slasher after dscanning a Pilgrim there, just to tackle it and make the guy think there was a fleet inc. Just for the LOLs, as I was solo. I led its drones around for a while until his buddy warped in to kill me and I split.

I love stuff like that.

i haven't logged on yet.. well i did but only to get a new skill queue up since there was less than 24hrs left.. hehe
but i will try the Tristan soon and from there figure out if it works well for me.. which I'm guessing will be a blast! them lil' drones are like little sidekicks ! hehe or if you watch Dispicable me. they're my "minions! "

Wow .. the tristan has that potential huh ? it'd be good practice for sure if i end up with a drone boat! either way it'll help me understand how drones function in combat.

Hah ! i doubt i can be a community Dev.. I will be too busy trying to work and squeeze in play time. but the compliment is very humbling coming from someone so active in the community as yourself and the others here !

Oh, easily. I was just orbitting on MWD at 20km with a t2 point, leading his drones around behind me, shrugging off some ineffective drone fire until his friend warped in in a faction Stabber. He was probably fit to neut/drone-blast larger ships, not frigs.

Stabber would have shredded me, so it was time to leave :)

The mystery to me is why I saw him at all, uncloaked. It's possible he was stuck on the gate.

Heh, kb efficiency alone means completely nothing. If you would take a look at my kb in January when I decided to get back to lowsec you could say "wow, 77% efficiency" but one second later you would see the truth: I kill and pod complete newborns who have no idea about d-scan or they think they don't have to run from venture because they are flying venture and it is harmless mining ship.

Wait... why that venture is blinking red?

He is shooting me!

Warp, warp warp!

I can't warp!

WHY I CAN'T WARP!!!! THEY SAID VENTURE CAN ESCAPE EVEN WHEN SCRAMMED!!!

Oh, he is gone. Did I escape?

Why am I in station???

Where IS MY SHIP?!!!

I enjoyed reading this so much I would recruit you, and I bet down the line you might have several bloodthirsty groups knocking on your door. Having said that I would just keep doing what you are doing and stick with RvB as long as your pew skills are developing rapidly. They have a strong group of helpful players, and many of them are quite good at the pew pew.

Just remember to take the time to max out your drone skills (level 4 is good enough for Level 1 missions) and also fit a drone damage amplifier on your Tristan. And then go out, stand off at max range, launch drones, and breeze through missions. But as you move up in Eve, there are counters to drones, so you will then have to learn some additional skills as other Eve players beat up on you!

heya ! I don't intend.. YET to mission with the tristan.. I'm constantly just out and about picking' fights with my RvB mates and getting blown up ! hehe
but it is so far not a bad ship even with just 3 drones out atm.

anyhow I'll be updating the OP with abit of new questions and some hi-jinks I ran into for the short time I was on in the weekend !
