Skill book Name: Autopilot

Effect Per Level: Each level decreases the distance the a ship is warped to an object by 500m

Why I think this is a good Idea: Many traders and players who use autopilot in this game(passive traders/isk makers) I think will like to use this skill book.

Ah - the ol' "Make AFK Play Safer" ploy...

Sorry, Chief. That idea is about as dumb as they come.

Sure, i'm fine with it. Only if you make it a x128 multiplier *psst, that means 17 hours 10 minutes to train to level 1*

This is as nice as I get. Best quote ever https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4137165#post4137165

Autopilot is an ability of the ship, not the skill of the pilot.

If anything, this would involve modules you could fit on your ship to improve it's warp range accuracy (or whatever), but not improve the skill of a pilot who is going to take no active part in the process.

Makes no logical sense.

Because the Warp Drive Operation skill does not exist. At all. And it has 0 effect on the way the Warp Drive operates on the ship. At all.

Sure, it's a skill that does exist. If you aren't sure of these things, look them up in game. It's quite simple.

There are also skills that affect align time too.

So what?

Bad idea is still a bad idea to introduce for AFKers trying to avoid being ganked or getting to their destination faster.

Want to get somewhere faster or avoid being ganked. Actively warp your ship to 0. Much quicker and safer.

No extra skill training required to affect a property of the ship when the skill of the player is immediately at hand.

i'd like a skill that has levels of skill plan cohesive commitment.

i'd train it to III, maybe. depends on the rank.

So at level 5 you want ships to warp to 12.5 km instead of 15 km?
Not really sure why you're asking for that.

I see your text, but it feels like a lot of filling. Nothing of value was found. Try again, but this time with a clear idea in mind. You argued that why should a skill affect the way the ship behaves while warping. I simply pointed out that there are skills that already do, and named just one for you.

Would give a small boost to freighter pilots.

OK, clear idea as expressed in the original post I made (perhaps less eloquently):

Bad idea, not worth the time or effort to create the skillbook or train it. Players already have the ability to warp at 0. Just don't be AFK.

Just because there are skills that affect properties of a ship, doesn't mean this one is logical.

Also worth posting it in the correct forum and not this one (you aren't the OP, so not aimed at you, but still relevant).

Oh is that what you did. Looked to me like the literal interpretation of you post suggested the skill didn't exist. My bad.

PS. I'm done e-peening. If you want we can declare you the winner, you big e-peen stud you.

Frighters accelerate so slowly that the difference would be meaningless.

Skill is pointless if you wish to protect against... Well, anything. Also pointless if you want to make anything appreciably faster. In fact, it's just pointless. Period.

So it's pointless to train all or any of the +5% navigation skills, because the freighter is so slow it's still going to be slow even with the skills...

Look man, I won't judge you for whatever waters your canoe. If you were perhaps less of a bickering asshat, you wouldn't get these kind of replies.
Perhaps, instead of trying to be eloquent, you became educated, you would know the word "Sarcasm".

Careful, your e-peen will be so full of blood soon you'll pass out from light-headedness.

Go back and see out of the two of us who was the asshat to begin with. I expressed an opinion as valid as any other and you jumped on me. No problem, I have broad shoulders. Just don't expect your sarcasm (yes I got that) not to be met with my own (but being an asshat in GD is kind of a given, so I don't blame you really).

Meanwhile, we've successfully derailed this thread, so I hope an ISD comes and cleans our posts out at some point (about the same time as moving this to F&I).
