Snow! Yay! Traffic... Uh... nevermind that 'yay' business.

Four inches down already, five more expected by dusk, four more beyond that before daybreak. For those across the pond: Total accumulation expected to be north of 32cm over about 18 hours. Windchill down around -10(f) / -23(c). ‘Tis a proper blizzard.

I stuck my nose out onto the roads.
Nope.
Not doing it.

I decline to add to the idiocy. I’m back in the office; It will be FAR more safe to wait until the several hundred thousand or so idiots trying to get home have *gotten* home (or have died trying), than to stick my nose into that mess.
Even *with* the deeper snow.

Indeed, the traffic is so dense that the snow plows cannot do their job, and the roadways are getting deeper by the minute.

Winter like *I* remember it. Smile Now I remember why it made my father grouchy. P

Got back to my place of residence, with my 2 y/o daughter in tow, just as the snow really started up. Souuth of RVA here so we will see nothing like what you are going to see, but if we get 6in it messes us as much or more than what happens up North.

It's not really fun until you get 5 feet of snow in 36 hours, until then take your ball and go home.

And yes it took 6 days for the scholls to re-open.

Truth - I've been down your way in heavy snow. OTOH, your folks tend to be smart enough to stay home.

Been there, done that, schools were open in 48 hours. Did my time in Illinois, thankyouverymuch. But in Illinois, folks know better than to be lemmings. Unlike around here. So, unless you had to go face rush hour traffic in your heavy snowfall, I'm keeping my ball, and you can't play.

Enough snow for one winter already. Polar vortex, then 3-4 normal days, then another snow dump, then 3-4 normal days, then another snow dump.... It's like the old days in NY, pre-global warming.

But on the bright side, it seems like we have a nice spring after cold winter like this one. The trees, flowers and vegetables seem to do well.

The ground is ready and willing to provide the water and nutrients, that have been on lock down, when it thaws out. Good stuff and I am looking forward to a beautiful spring.
